14 years @sedberghschool. During this time G has had 4 locations, 6 Heads and 4 Bandmasters! We are proud of the man he has become, a true Sedberghian. Thank you @Sedbergh_Prep @WinderHouse @SailingSedbergh @SedberghMusic

Too many questions. Too much work for a single mark so lots of effort will not be awarded. Useless information included to deliberately trip up the kids and make them doubt themselves. Diagrams not included on purpose. Unfair.

Today’s KS2 maths reasoning paper is a failure at a national level, one which will serve only to put pupils off maths. There is nothing wrong with tough questions in maths. Mathematicians love the challenge of overcoming difficult problems. But that’s not the same thing at all as questions that seek to confuse, mislead or hide meaning in meaningless, tiresome contexts. Show a real mathematician a problem written by someone who is deliberately communicating badly or poking fun by being disingenuous and that mathematician will tell you to bugger off. We’re in the business of grappling with and resolving genuinely interesting and important questions. We have no interest in silly, dull and ill conceived questions that lack meaning and intend to trip up. So, an opportunity to show pupils what mathematics is and can be has been utterly wasted and instead we’ve just made it a lot less likely a nascent interest in becoming a mathematician will flourish for many, many pupils who will, quite rightly, reject the subject as tedious sleight of hand. To those writing, signing off and publishing national exam papers: be better at your job or do something else.

I wish this didn't ring so true.. even when we do highlight the statistics to support this, it feels like nobody cares..

On Thursday our DT students travelled to the NEC in Birmingham for the final of the Big Bang competition. They met some fantastic future STEM partners for school and competed against the best of the best - well done team! #teamsettlebeck #SmallSchoolBigOpportunities

Really??? No they don't.
SATs play a key role in helping to identify pupils’ strengths or where they may have fallen behind as they head to secondary school. Here's everything parents need to know about SATs, including how we develop the tests and why they're important ⬇️ ow.ly/Ab7a50Omw5j

Please share this far and wide. This is a fine headteacher, pushed so close to the edge by @Ofstednews, but who thankfully, survived. assure.education/blog/it-cou…

I'll never forget my first Ofsted lesson observation, as an NQT, when they said I couldn't rely on this level of energy to engage and enthuse my class as it would diminish as I got older. I hope they get to watch this, 20 years later. 🤔

@thetrainline very frustrating. Just tried to book train tickets from my local station. But not given option for mobile tickets. The station in question doesn't have a ticket machine. How am I meant to travel from there?

Have ended up, booking from another station further away which has a ticket machine. Cost me more and the times of the journey are not as good. Have always managed to get mobile tickets before. Why is this option suddenly not available? Esp if station has no machine to buy from?

Hooray for schools in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿! Protecting girls in school sports is as important and protecting elite women in #sports. Bravo! 👏🏼 #SaveWomensSports – at Mississauga, Ontario
This is VERY good and important and caps a big day. It looks to me like they had it all ready to go.

In a personal capacity ( as my union wouldn’t support) I am with you in this. I retired last September so if I can offer any backing message me. YOU ARE A LEGEND. Call your governors/ trustees/ the press. Call Ruth’s sister Julie. This HAS to hit the headlines

A few years ago, my whole school focused on The Day the Crayons Quit for #WorldBookDay. We had a great time writing our own letters from classroom objects and then we designed and made these melted crayon artworks. Hands down one of my favourite days of school! #edutwitter
