We don’t yet know all of the impacts of the “Big, Beautiful Bill” but we do know the threats to access for health coverage in places like South Dakota. Yesterday I joined @keloland to talk more about it:

2/3 The bill accelerates implementation of work requirements to Dec. 2026, putting vulnerable people at risk of losing coverage in critical moments of their treatment plans. The majority of recipients who can work already do & work requirements have repeatedly failed in states.

1/3 The House passed a bill cutting Medicaid funding by an est. $715 billion. If approved by the Senate, these cuts will raise health care costs, negatively impact state budgets & deny affordable health care to at least 8.6M people, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

#MCED screening detects cancer early, leading to earlier treatment options and better outcomes. We are glad to stand alongside so many patient advocates in South Dakota advancing efforts to increase cancer screenings.
Multi-Cancer Early Detection is a slam dunk🏀for Medicare enrollees in SD by helping screen for cancer at earlier stages. The #MCED Screening Coverage Act is so close to passage. @SenJohnThune, please help make this landmark legislation a reality, and get it over the finish line.

Late on this, but love this @MakenzieHuber piece on our @ACSCANSD volunteer Doris Cardwell. This legislation saves lives and it's time to get it passed in South Dakota.
“It feels like being punished for wanting to live a good life and catch things early."
South Dakota women who've survived #BreastCancer or are considered high risk say they're saddled with the costs of extra screening, and they want a legislative fix.
