ISA RC01 Armed Forces and Conflict Resolution Emerging Scholar Award - Please repost👇
ISA Research Committee 01 is launching its inaugural Emerging Scholar Best Paper Award, recognising outstanding work on armed forces, conflict resolution, peacebuilding, civil–military relations, and military–society relations.
👤 Who can apply
Doctoral candidates, or researchers within five years of their PhD. Documented career interruptions (parental or care leave, long-term illness, compulsory military service) are taken into account. You must be an RC01 member, and you can submit one paper.
📄 What qualifies
A peer-reviewed journal article or book chapter published or formally accepted between 1 January 2025 and the deadline. Co-authored work counts if you are first author and principal contributor.
🔍 How it's judged
Originality, theoretical contribution, methodological quality, analysis, clarity, and relevance to RC01. Journal or publisher ranking is not a criterion — strong work in any outlet is equally eligible.
🎁 The award
An RC01 certificate and USD 750, which can instead cover registration, travel, or accommodation for the 21st ISA World Congress of Sociology in Gwangju (4–10 July 2027). The winner will also be promoted across RC01's website, newsletter, and social media. Attending the Congress is not required.
