Banning Andreas Malm makes perfect sense for the Burnham administration. He’s a leading climate scholar and a Palestine activist. In other words, he represents the two forces Burnham’s government is determined to crush: climate resistance and solidarity with Palestine.

Patrick Stewart was, like many of the greatest British artists of the 20th Century, a working class boy who became a world-class artist thanks to a public arts education made possible by Post War social democracy. He never forgot it.
I'm in tears. More than almost any other actor, Patrick Stewart was huge to me. When I read Lenin, I hear his voice. When I laugh uncontrollably, it's at Avery Bullock. And when I need to remind myself of the best in what human beings can be, I think of Captain Picard.
Goodbye.

"It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness, that is life" is a quote that has helped me persevere through hardships that felt unwinnable. Jean Luc Picard was a role model of a man and it's because of Patrick Stewart's performance. RIP

Genuinely disturbing news - my friend Clara, who you might know as the Super Creek at Trackside, was abducted by ICE at the Rochester Airport on her way home from Uma week. Please read and share her story: facebook.com/share/18Rmm5SHK…
My aim in pursuing an MSc next year is to finally begin moving from an abstract, normative conception of politics to literacy in concrete political economy & world-system dynamics. I wanna understand what people like @pawelwargan, @bikrumsinghgill & @foscaecon are talking about.
Unspeakably horrific...This is what to expect on an industrial scale now that they're opening 'detransition clinics' as if they learned nothing from 'conversion therapy' camps...
Except they did learn what happens to queer people in those and that's what these monsters want.
Funny how a couple of Chinese companies withdrawing their endorsement is an example of China's ruthlessness but the US bombing Iranian school children and then preventing their National team from staying in the US during the World Cup isn't.
