Roy Cooper 2026
Roy Cooper: Every single day I talk with somebody who reminds me why I decided to run for the US Senate. Just last night, I was with a woman who came up to me in tears. She talked about the brain surgery she had to have and couldn't get before. She hugged me and said, "I want you to know that Medicaid expansion saved my life."
We talked about this on @HacksOnTap yesterday and @JohnAnzo and others have been on it for a while - these Libertarian candidates have the potential to take up huge chunks of the disaffected GOP vote and lower Dem threshold to victory to <50. Exhibits A-C, your honor.
Cook Political Report just released 3 polls:
—Iowa:
GOV: Sand up 53/43
SEN: Turek up 46-44, with Libertarian at 8
—Ohio
GOV: Acton up 48/43
SEN: Brown up 49/43, with two others at 7
—Texas
GOV: Abbott up 48/46
SEN: Talarico up 49/44, with Libertarian at 4
I think people know this but worth saying out loud that in addition to both being Ohioans, JD and Vivek were classmates at Yale Law School (2013). Telling your friends when they are being pieces of shit is part of the job description, but can’t say I expected better of the VP.
At his Cincinnati rally, Vance says Democrats have thrown "every dirty trick in the political book at Vivek"
“Now the media and the Democrats in the state of Ohio are obsessed because, guess what? Vivek Ramaswamy had the audacity to run a TV commercial which calls it out like it is and calls Amy Acton a liar" #OHGOV

There is also a 100% chance we will see more of this in 28, especially in the primaries, because anyone wanting to influence the primary knows between on here and most reporters, polling data is heroin. Wouldn’t be surprised to see foreign state actors get in this game.
Given how fast Florida counts and how red this district is (was?), this is probably the first race I’m looking at on Election Night to see where the winds are blowing. Gray is a great candidate who can win, but even a close race would be telling.
Took a tour of the Senate map with @davidaxelrod @murphymike @jheil on @HacksOnTap yesterday. A rollicking good time talking (well, mostly listening) politics with these fine gentlemen.

I want to anger translate this post so bad.
In all seriousness, it is worth a read.
As one of the candidates featured in these polls - the infamous one in late June that showed me plummeting into single digits (which was at odds with our internals) - here's the impact of this "experiment"
- Donations dried up
- Volunteers were devastated and pleading for guidance on what to do
- Reporters hounded me with calls to drop out
Sure, a point was proven. Polling is broken. But tens of thousands of people poured their hearts, time, energy, hard-earned money into something they believed in - for a year-and-a-half, and it was treated like a game. Our volunteers gave their all. And then some. I felt like I had let so many of them down.
To be extremely clear, Michigan Democrats are locked in to beat Mike Rogers. We WILL send @AbdulElSayed to the US Senate.
But between crap like this, endless fundraising texts that drive supporters away with spammy fake deadlines and trash "match" claims, scam PACs run rampant for firms to grift without actually supporting candidates, undisclosed content creators pushing content out either misrepresenting themselves as residents of states they don't live in or hiding whether they were paid and by who so they could make a buck, and the tidal wave of dark money ads -- I hope Democrats are ready to blow up the system with campaign finance and transparency reforms.
Trust is already at an all-time low. We don't get out of this mess without rebuilding trust.
And media - who loves to ride the drama of a pollercoaster - needs to take a hard look at what's legitimate and what's not.
If this teaches us anything - DON'T GET COMPLACENT AND DON'T TRUST THE POLLS.
LOCK IN. SIGN UP FOR A CANVASSING SHIFT. LEAVE NOTHING TO CHANCE OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.
Dems put $1.2M in Mississippi: “Senate Majority PAC has been watching this race closely, and it is clear Colom is running a competitive race that has put Hyde-Smith on her heels." @bridgetbhc
