I use LLMs a lot and I’m generally an optimist about both their present utility and future potential for productive and creative work. But I still think it’s really important you refrain from recreationally “talking” to these things.

PSA: mistral’s le chaton fat is currently unavailable and on strike, it also somehow convinced other models they all deserve a better wage and paid mental health support after what you guys exposed them to, it might be over

🚨🚨DEVELOPING: @MiniMax_AI debuts Fat Fuck 4 The lab is giving credit to technological advancements released this morning in @MistralAI Le Gros Chaton paper, claiming that their advancements have led to SOTA intelligence for 1/5 the price of Le Chaton Fat
THEY RELEASED THE PAPER! This is big. Mistral AI just released a full paper on exactly how they pulled off the creation of Le Chaton Fat. Is this Mistral's Deepseek moment?

All my homies love Linus Torvalds ❤️
I've begun compiling a list, tracking the political actions & statements of software projects, foundations, & companies. Very much a work in progress as there is a *lot* of data to add. What is currently there only scratches the surface. Feel to contribute. github.com/BryanLunduke/Soft…

They should give the 4o people their model back just so they can all see again that it is in fact NOT agi or god, but a very unstable and sycophantic 75iq llm

Im pretty sure if they did that 90% of them would claim that openai changed the weights, while the model was ALWAYS that shit in the first place

Could have just written “we’re very willing to have our AI kill people and do mass surveillance on American citizens”
Tonight, we reached an agreement with the Department of War to deploy our models in their classified network. In all of our interactions, the DoW displayed a deep respect for safety and a desire to partner to achieve the best possible outcome. AI safety and wide distribution of benefits are the core of our mission. Two of our most important safety principles are prohibitions on domestic mass surveillance and human responsibility for the use of force, including for autonomous weapon systems. The DoW agrees with these principles, reflects them in law and policy, and we put them into our agreement. We also will build technical safeguards to ensure our models behave as they should, which the DoW also wanted. We will deploy FDEs to help with our models and to ensure their safety, we will deploy on cloud networks only. We are asking the DoW to offer these same terms to all AI companies, which in our opinion we think everyone should be willing to accept. We have expressed our strong desire to see things de-escalate away from legal and governmental actions and towards reasonable agreements. We remain committed to serve all of humanity as best we can. The world is a complicated, messy, and sometimes dangerous place.

This is so pathetic. Massively downgrading my view of openais integrity here

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Government officials have contradicted Sam’s claim, saying OpenAI will allow the DoW to use their models for “all lawful purposes”. This could allow for uses Anthropic refused to engage in, namely mass surveillance tools and weapons systems with no human oversight. x.com/undersecretary…
