Toluwanisings’ uncle has shared his account of what happened after the family travelled from Ikirun to Ibadan following Tolu’s death.
According to him,seven relatives arrived at Tolu house and were shocked by the atmosphere in the house. He claimed that Tolu’s wife, her mother, her sisters, her aunt and the personal assistant were watching television and eating, which made him question whether the news of Tolu’s death was true.
He said l that the PA initially refused to take the family to the morgue until he was threatened with arrest. The uncle also brought up an earlier incident involving Tolu’s father, who had reportedly complained about not receiving enough attention from his son. He claimed Tolu intervened during the call, asking his wife not to allow the disagreement to ruin their marriage, although she denied the allegation.
The uncle further stated that the family wanted Tolu buried either at his residence or in Ikirun but his wife rejected both options, preferring a public cemetery. He questioned her reasons for opposing burial at their home and alleged that she might be planning to sell the property. He insisted that the family was not interested in Tolu’s assets but wanted his burial handled in accordance with their wishes.
He also revealed that Tolu had reportedly been supporting his father financially, providing him with a shop, sending him at least ₦50,000 monthly and promising another ₦5 million to help him establish a business. According to him, the last payment his father received was ₦80,000.
The uncle added that the family had been warned of possible consequences if Tolu was buried in a public cemetery.

I once dated a woman who was HIV positive. She was intelligent, beautiful, and someone I genuinely enjoyed being around. I liked her so much that I saw marriage as a possibility.
When we went for medical screening as I usually do when I start a new relationship, I found out she was HIV positive. Honestly, what pained me most wasn't her status; it was seeing how badly she felt about it.
Because of the HIV awareness training I had undergone, I understood that HIV wasn't a death sentence. I knew about antiretroviral drugs, viral suppression, and how people in serodifferent relationships could live together without transmitting the virus.
So I reassured her that we were fine and continued the relationship. We dated for about three months, and we had sex using condoms. I also took PrEP because I understood the importance of protecting myself.
Unfortunately, as time went on, I began to notice character issues in the relationship. The way she spoke to me and treated me became a problem, so I decided to walk away. It wasn't her HIV status that ended the relationship; it was her behaviour.
My experience taught me something important: you can love someone who is HIV positive, marry them, and have a fulfilling relationship without acquiring HIV.
With effective treatment, a person living with HIV can achieve and maintain an undetectable viral load. When that happens, they do not transmit HIV through sex. This is known as Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U).
HIV status doesn't determine someone's worth, and it shouldn't automatically disqualify anyone from being loved.
People deserve love, respect, and the opportunity to build a future, regardless of their HIV status. ✌🏿
