What is nauseating, sad and unacceptable about this is that such crimes are taking place in South Africa and in broad day light and @SAPoliceService and law enforcement agencies are not taking action. Crime has now been normalised in South Africa. ^Ian

That’s the multibillion-rand question. SA’s lawlessness is driven by a cocktail of factors, but at root, successive @MYANC governments failed to deliver fundamental socio-economic, educational and political reforms. So, we keep turning on each other and drowning in crime. ^Chipo

📢 Early warnings. Cross-border action. Climate-smart farming.
Welcome news as the Adaptation Fund Board approves financing for two new @UNDP-supported projects in #Africa.
The projects include $30 million for pastoralist and agro-pastoralist communities in the Mandera Triangle (spanning #Ethiopia, #Kenya and #Somalia) facing recurring droughts, floods and pressure on shared water and grazing resources. A further $4.97 million will go to drought-prone food-producing districts in #Rwanda.
As @OllikainenAF, Head of the Adaptation Fund, noted, "These new Adaptation Fund-supported projects are designed to improve access to climate information, protect harvests and herds, and strengthen food security across borders. When livelihoods hold, countries and regions are better able to withstand both the slow onset of climate change and the next climate shock.”
