The ceasefire in Oleshky just shows how easily Russia could stop this war, immediately, if they so desired. One decision, one order for Russian troops to return to their bases in Russia, and everyone immediately stops dying.
❗️30 hours of the ceasefire in Oleshky have passed without a single incident. This has been made possible, in particular, by ongoing communication between me and Yana Lantratova, Russia’s Commissioner for Human Rights. We remain in contact and coordinate efforts to implement the agreements reached. I would like to express my special gratitude to First Lady of the United States Melania Trump (@FLOTUS), who is personally dedicating her time and attention to this humanitarian mission and to helping civilians in Oleshky. Her direct involvement and coordination of efforts between the parties are an important part of this process. ☝️I also thank her entire team for their consistent support, ongoing communication, and every effort they have made. Our shared goal is to ensure that civilians in Oleshky receive assistance and to create the conditions for the safe departure of those who need it. We continue our work. What matters most is people’s lives and safety.

It remains unclear how the Russian authorities will treat Ukrainians evacuated from Oleshky and whether Russian occupation authorities will provide the residents a legitimate and duress-free choice to return to Ukrainian government-controlled Ukraine.
NEW: Russian President Vladimir Putin used his October 27 call with Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store to reiterate Moscow’s longstanding demands in Ukraine and rearticulate Moscow’s claims that NATO expansion is among the “root causes” of the war. Putin also stated that “root causes” must be resolved as preconditions for any future peace negotiations. Other Key Takeaways: Russia and Ukraine began observing a limited ceasefire in Russian-occupied Oleshky, Kherson Oblast, on October 27 to facilitate humanitarian aid deliveries and evacuate civilians from the settlement. Both sides are reportedly abiding by the ceasefire terms as of this writing. It remains unclear how the Russian authorities will treat Ukrainians evacuated from Oleshky and whether Russian occupation authorities will provide the residents a legitimate and duress-free choice to return to Ukrainian government-controlled Ukraine. The Russian 26th Tank Regiment (47th Tank Division, 1st Guards Tank Army [GTA], Moscow Military District) operating in the Kupyansk direction is reportedly planning to disband several platoons to create an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) company. Neither Russian nor Ukrainian forces advanced on October 27. Russian forces launched an unspecified number of Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles and 280 drones against Ukraine overnight.

💥 Why Ukraine hits Russian rubber plants, and how it impacts Iskander missiles. FP-1 drones recently hit three Russian rubber facilities: Voronezhsintezkauchuk, Omsky Kauchuk, and Tolyattikauchuk. This isn't about tires. The synthetic rubber industry produces specialized polymers like polybutadiene-acrylonitrile, which bind solid rocket propellant and act as fuel. Russia’s Iskander-M ballistic missiles run on solid fuel. Targeting rubber plants directly undermines Russian missile production. Tolyattikauchuk leads with at least four strikes, followed by Sterlitamak Petrochemical Plant with three. Out of ~10 major Russian rubber facilities, six have been hit 11 times as of October 25.

Solid response from Jackson.
Senator Collins, I think you are a little out of touch. This is about a cord of wood — and about Mainers struggling to afford to heat their homes this winter. I know what it’s like to run out of fuel. I’ve lived that struggle. That’s the experience I’ll take to the U.S. Senate. And I’ll use it to fight for working people.

Putin’s conviction will not be changed by any diplomatic approach. It is simply futile to expect otherwise. The only way to bring him to genuine negotiations is for the West to systematically pressure the Russian war economy while enabling Ukraine to increase pressure on the battlefield and in the rear. That is the only viable formula. Without such efforts, it will be talks for just the sake of talks.
❗️Putin told Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian PM Jonas Gahr Støre that Russia would not compromise on its goal of capturing the entire Donbas, Reuters reports, citing a source close to the Kremlin. The Nordic leaders responded that a “just” peace is needed. #Ukraine

💥🚂Ukraine’s 1st National Guard Corps “Azov” has struck over 100 Russian trains transporting supplies to the front, targeting locomotives, fuel tankers, and other railway equipment. The strikes are disrupting Russian fuel deliveries and military logistics along key railway routes supplying the front.
War on Credit: Over 100 Trains Hit The enemy is doing all it can to create the image of successfully capturing settlements, yet it cannot protect the key railway stations through which its fuel supply chain toward the front runs. Neither mobile fire groups nor electronic warfare systems can safeguard the occupying force’s logistics routes. Thanks to your donations and the work of the Come Back Alive Foundation, which provided 440 Starlink Minis, fires from First Corps Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine have hit more than 100 trains that were moving logistics shipments for the enemy. Locomotives, fuel tank cars, and other assets have been disabled. This makes it possible to disrupt the enemy’s supply at the front line and destroy its offensive potential.

⚡️️ 80% of Ukrainians back strikes on Russian refineries even if US cuts support, poll shows. Some 80% of respondents back the continued strikes, even if Washington restricts intelligence sharing or Starlink operations. Only 11% said Ukraine should pause the attacks, despite Russia's ongoing attacks on the Ukrainian energy grid, according to the survey. kyivindependent.com/80-of-uk…
