I was startled to see one of the world's largest bats, the Indian flying fox, hanging above me at Sakkarbaug Zoological Garden in Junagadh! 🦇🦇🦇 They weigh up to 1.6 kg (3.5 lbs) and have a wingspan of up to 1.5 meters (5 feet). 🦇

In Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism), we believe that the Creator is present in everything. The Ātma is eternal, and the cycle of reincarnation is not limited to human beings. Rebirth can take place in different forms, from the smallest microorganisms that are invisible to the naked eye, to ants, insects, fish and other organisms in the sea, as well as plants and other living beings on land or in any realm (multiverse). According to Hindu teachings, karma influences the journey through the cycle of birth, death and rebirth, known as saṃsāra. Human birth is considered especially precious because it offers a unique opportunity for spiritual realisation and ultimately moksha, liberation from this cycle. We also recognise the divine presence in all existence. Everything, from the smallest organism to every plant, stone and element of nature, is connected to the Divine. The Creator is not separate from creation. The Divine is present throughout existence, reminding us to approach the world around us with reverence, humility and respect.

If reincarnation is real, what happens when the world population shrinks? Say 8 billion reincarnating souls but only 4 billion bodies. Do we take turns? Or become animals, or mushrooms?

The West has monopolised, renamed poses, and patented yoga. What began as an ancient Vedic, spiritual, holistic Hindu practice for the mind, body, and spirit has now been appropriated and repackaged as a fitness trend.

How did we get water before we had taps in our homes in the England. 1854. Before taps, you queued. And you didn't ask what was floating in it. London, 1854: one standpipe for a whole court, water two hours at a time, a few days a week, and a water company drawing from the Thames below the sewers. That summer, Dr John Snow had the Broad Street pump handle removed. Running water for most homes was still decades away.

Ten million people have watched a TED speaker accidentally destroy the entire time management industry. He filmed the talk once at TEDxDouglasville and it has been on YouTube ever since. Productivity coaches charge $500 an hour to teach a diluted version of what he covered in 18 minutes for free. His name is Rory Vaden. He is the co-founder of Brand Builders Group, a Wall Street Journal bestselling author, and the strategist behind the Focus Funnel used by Fortune 500 executives to reclaim entire quarters of their year. For over a decade he has taught the same three-question funnel for deciding what belongs on your calendar. His entire framework fits on a napkin. You cannot manage time. You manage yourself. Efficiency is a hamster wheel. Priorities are just shuffled tasks. Add a third axis: how long will this matter. Every task must clear four gates: eliminate, automate, delegate, defer. Only what survives all four earns your focus today. That last gate alone has probably cost the calendar-app industry a hundred million dollars in unopened subscriptions. "You always say no to something. If you say yes to today's fire, you say no to next month's freedom." That is a paraphrase Vaden returns to across the talk. He built the entire Focus Funnel on the sentence. Founders block their week with $500 productivity apps and still end Friday wondering where the time went. Managers rush through inbox zero every morning and never spend the two hours that would automate the inbox forever. The talk is free on YouTube. Vaden's book "Procrastinate on Purpose" is under twenty dollars on Amazon. Vaden still writes and speaks. Almost none of the ten million viewers have actually run a single task through the four-gate funnel. The funnel is free. The willingness to actually spend two hours today automating the task you will do a hundred more times is the entire edge.

The "Prima Ballerina" fountain is located in Kosciuszko Square in the town center of Poddębice, Poland. Unveiled on August 3, 2024, this public installation features three ballerinas standing 2m tall, crafted by Polish sculptor Małgorzata Chodakowska who currently lives in Dresden. Her work lies at the intersection of sculpture and water installations and her portfolio includes projects in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Chodakowska's work is undeniably wonderful!

THEO VON: “Was there anybody who was immune to COVID-19?” DR. MCCULLOUGH: “There’s one adult group. You’re going to laugh.” [Theo Von listens closely for the reveal] DR. MCCULLOUGH: “Smokers… They got very mild cases. And they don’t get long COVID.” THEO VON: “Why?” MCCULLOUGH: “Because smokers maintain a level of nicotine in the bloodstream… Smoking blocks the spike protein. It’s amazing. I thought smokers were going to go down.” THEO VON: “Do you think that’s a good idea [to use nicotine patches] on a regular basis?” DR. MCCULLOUGH: “I think [it’s a good idea] if they have long COVID... Nicotine, don’t forget, is a nootropic. A nootropic is a drug that makes the brain function more effectively... It’s addictive, but it’s not harmful to the human body... Nicotine patches are perfectly safe.”

One of the coolest stories in music is how Serj from System of a Down was stuck on lyrics for Chop Suey. Rick Rubin told him to grab a random book off the shelf, open it to any page, and use the first words he saw. That’s what ended up in the song. Rick says “It’s like magic.”

"Kashmir" isn't about Kashmir. Robert Plant wrote the lyrics after an endless drive through the Moroccan desert, thousands of miles from the place it's named after. None of the band had ever been there. Page called it the greatest Zeppelin riff he ever wrote. Here's Led Zeppelin playing it at Earls Court, 1975.

Dr. Dre called himself hip hop’s first billionaire on camera in 2014. It took Forbes 12 years to agree. That one video reportedly cost the deal $200 million. In the video below, Dre and Jimmy Iovine tell the story of the night it leaked. Apple was about to buy Beats, the headphone company they built together, for around $3 billion. For weeks, nothing leaked. Iovine called Dre with a warning straight out of Goodfellas. “Don’t buy any furs. Don’t buy cars. Don’t get showy. Don’t move this weekend.” “Got you,” Dre said. That Friday night, Puff Daddy called Iovine, yelling. Dre and Tyrese Gibson were celebrating on Facebook. “The first billionaire in hip hop right here from the West Coast,” Dre told the camera. According to a book by Tripp Mickle, Tim Cook took $200 million off the price. Dre later called that night one of the three most embarrassing moments of his life. Forbes kept him off the billionaire list until 2026. “I don’t chase money,” he told them this year. “I try to make the money chase me.” The case for Dre: it was the biggest night of his career, and Apple signed anyway. On the Street, nobody opened the champagne until the wire cleared. So was one night of celebrating worth $200 million, or should he have listened to Jimmy?
