Our regional theatres are more than cultural assets – they’re engines of growth, supporting jobs and vibrant city and town centres. With the right investment, we can unlock their full potential.

Back in Parliament, back calling for action to fix dentistry in Norfolk. My question to the Minister 👇
I welcome news that a deal has been agreed which will end industrial action at Norwich airport and disruption for passengers. I wish we had never ended up in this place but I am glad a resolution has now been found.

Good, sensible changes.
A number of constituents contacted me about unfair parking fines and I’ve campaigned for action so I am pleased to see this announcement.
🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham has announced changes to car parking fines
- Drivers will have a 5-minute grace period to decide whether to park and 10 minutes to leave after a parking session ends
- A £20 maximum charge on appeal for minor mistakes, such as entering the wrong number plate or not displaying a permit
- Charges will also be cancelled on appeal for breakdowns, medical emergencies or broken ticket machines
- The £100 cap on charges will remain
- The rules will come into force as soon as possible and operators that break them will lose access to DVLA data
Thanks to Policing Minister @LabourSJ for meeting me this week to discuss policing issues in Norfolk including ASB and action to tackle county lines.
On politics east this weekend I spoke about the much-needed action the govt is taking to reform social care and support care workers👇

Three years on from the October 7 attacks on Israel, we remember those who were senselessly killed by Hamas terrorists.
The impact of the attacks has been felt not just in Israel, but in Jewish communities across the world who still bear the burden of the tragic events that day.
In the years since, we have seen a disturbing rise in antisemitic behaviour in the UK.
A year ago we witnessed a horrifying terrorist attack on the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation in Manchester, with further attacks against Jewish people and institutions since.
I want Britain’s Jewish community to hear this from me directly. We stand with you. Abuse and violence against you, in any form, will not be tolerated. Not on our streets, not online, not in our schools or universities.
That’s why we are funding protection for synagogues, schools and community buildings, and why we will come down hard on antisemitism wherever it is found - in classrooms, on campuses and in neighbourhoods.
At home, we are committed to protecting our citizens from vile hatred. Abroad, we continue to work towards a two-state solution, with Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in peace and security.
An attack on Jewish people in Britain is an attack on all of us. Antisemitism has no place in this country, and we will do everything we can to stamp it out.

BREAKING: Bridget Phillipson responds on behalf of Labour to the racist and antisemitic motion today. It’s strong and she doesn’t mince her words to be fair.
Bridget Phillipson MP, Chair of the Labour Party, and Minister for Women and Equalities, responds to the Green Party’s vote on Zionism at the Green Party Conference, said:
“It is shameful to vote against a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine and to condemn the vast majority of British Jews and Jews around the world as racist for supporting Israel’s right to exist. It is fundamentally wrong and the leadership of the Green Party must make clear that this will not be their position moving forwards.
“The Labour Party has always been clear that criticism of the policies of the Israeli Government is not antisemitic, and the Labour government has condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza and the West Bank. But today’s vote at the Green Party Conference crosses a line and should be condemned across the political spectrum.
“This vote underlines how important it was that we changed the Labour Party from top to bottom and ripped out the scourge of antisemitism from within the party.
"The Labour Party and the Labour Government will continue working every day to ensure our Jewish communities are safe, feel safe and have their rights upheld, as well as making sure we rid our society of antisemitism once and for all.”

Not afraid to take on the big issues our country faces like fixing the broken care system.
Not afraid to do politics differently.
Proud of our PM and proud to be Labour.

Everyone at Norwich City is deeply saddened by the passing of our honorary life president, Michael Wynn Jones.
Michael died peacefully at home on Monday morning, aged 85. He will be greatly missed.
His family are grateful for the wonderful care provided by the community nursing team at St Elizabeth Hospice.
Our deepest condolences are with Delia and Tom, and with all of Michael’s family, friends and loved ones.
At the family’s request, we ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.
Good to see this announcement. The right thing to do and makes economic sense too- which is in all our interests.
Investing in and supporting women and girls must remain at the heart of our development policy.

It helps boost women’s participation in the workforce and productivity as well as reducing other healthcare costs.
Welcome news. I’ve been pushing for action from Anglian Water to tackle this issue since residents first raised it with me. Good that concerted efforts from many are securing progress.

Thanks to DCMS Minister @IanMurrayMP for joining us in in Norwich to support our fantastic Norfolk and Suffolk Mayoral candidate Carli Harper.
Brilliant to talk about the amazing creativity and culture we have in Norwich and East Anglia - and how we can boost it even further!
Pregnancy loss is devastating.
This is such an important change to give women and their partners the right to time off work to grieve.
It’s estimated that one in five women in the UK will experience a miscarriage in their lifetime.
But if you lose a pregnancy before 24 weeks, there is currently no legal right to bereavement leave.
I don’t think that’s right.
Losing a pregnancy can be devastating. You and your partner shouldn’t have to worry about going straight back to work.
So we’re changing the law.
From April, women and their partners will be entitled to two weeks off after any pregnancy loss.
And we’re making wider changes, with new rights to time off when you lose someone you love.
When you’re grieving, you deserve the time and space to do that.
Women are waiting far too long for justice and far too often are not properly supported.
This is a much needed step forward. 👇

Before entering politics, I ran a women’s refuge. I’ve seen the real-life impact of misogyny.
Sending these poisonous attitudes back to the dark ages is everyone’s business. We’re stepping up, providing the political leadership to make it happen.
