RECORD *SMASHED* 🌡️💥
@CentralParkNYC dropped 26° in ONE HOUR, the largest drop ever recorded 🤯
Look at how strong the backdoor cold front was crossing #NYC! 🥶👀
This goes without saying every single week, but tonight with the opening sequence and the way @RayChewLive made Rihanna’s Only Girl in the World into *that* tango — just spectacular. Wow!!
Watching @TheHerd with @colincowherd talking about Cleveland, agree on a lot! The big flies you’re talking about are mayflies, and they’re big! They come out twice, typically in May and October (hence the Joba Chamberlin baseball meme, haha)
✈️ WOW! What a show 👏
The @BlueAngels put on an incredible performance at the @cleairshow for Day 1.
Tune in tomorrow to @WEWS as I interview a few of the pilots who make this show possible 📺
Is it just me or is Miley’s new music video just copy-catting Gaga’s LoveGame and Alejandro music videos?!

With all the smoke around the Great Lakes and northeast last week, I asked @AllanWeather of @WEWS what its link might be to tropospheric propagation.
“Wildfire smoke is essentially the cherry on top of the heat and humidity inversion cake,” Nosoff said.

This morning brought an impressive tropo opening into the Toronto and Buffalo areas, around 200+ miles from my location. Signals were quite strong, with several stations completely overriding local frequencies. Here are a few. Around lunchtime, the duct shifted west, bringing in Chicago-area stations from around 320 miles.

I'm proud of this three-part series I worked on profiling today's radio traffic reporters.
How do 8 voices manage to stay relevant in the era of mobile apps?
In part one, I explore their backgrounds into geography, the tools they use, like scanners.

There's a lot of talk about "how this heat compares"
Try not to do that.
Whether we break records, tie records or are 1º shy, it's still DANGEROUSLY hot. If you know me, you know I don't throw that word around often.
*HEAT DOME* will allow a large-scale inversion to build from SW to NE starting Sunday, and peaking in Ohio on Wednesday. If you have a radio, tune around Tuesday night & Wednesday and you might hear Cincinnati and Chicago in Cleveland if the elements align!
SIGNIFICANT "Heat Dome" Tropo Event Forecasted
DXers in the Eastern half of the US, be sure to keep an eye on Bill Hepburn's Tropo Forecast at dxinfocentre.com/tropo.html over the next 7-10 days.
You are going to be hearing about a significant "heat dome" of high pressure building over the Eastern half of the US this week that will be exceptionally strong, putting triple digit air temperatures into places like Raleigh, Charlotte, and into the mid-Atlantic.
These "heat dome" setups can produce very significant inland tropo events for FM DX. What makes this significant is the location of the tropo - much further inland than we typically see at this depth and intensity.
For reference, the August 2023 heat dome event brought significant tropo of 800+ miles for many DXers.
Now, it is still too early to say if this event will produce anything to that magnitude - it may produce no Tropo on FM at all!. However, the forecast is looking rather favorable for some moderate to strong tropo over a large area around the sides of the heat dome.
You can actually hear more about that Fall 2023 historic "Tropocalypse" opening, what conditions were present to create it and the results that were observed on Nick Langan and Bryce Foster's VHF DX Podcast from October 2023: podparadise.com/Podcast/1582…
Either way, should be fun to at least keep an eye on the Tropo, all while still in the middle of Sporadic Es season!
Best of DX to you all and 73!

Thanks for watching Andrew, and for contributing to this awesome introduction into the E-skip world! 🙌
My local WEWS channel 5 did a segment about e-skip! Thanks @AllanWeather for getting this featured on the 5 pm newscast today.

How cool is this?! @star1021online Dallas took over our local @Star102CLE yesterday. I am working on a story explaining this atmospheric anomaly, stay tuned! @WEWS
Yesterday's E-skip was incredibly strong at times. Here is 102.1 KDGE from Dallas-Fort Worth at 1,028 miles, completely overriding my local 102.1 WDOK, which is only 23 miles from me. You can hear the top of the hour IDs swapping back and forth. There were tons of strong signals from Texas all over the band.

I’m sorry but the refs are clearly going in favor of the Spurs, the last tech is the clearest example so far…
