Pakistan Doesn’t Need Devaluation — It Needs Stability
The average REER for FY25 stands at 100, indicating that there is no need for further devaluation. Devaluation disproportionately harms 92% of our economy, while nearly 50% of our population is already living below the poverty line.
Those advocating for devaluation largely represent vested interest groups seeking marginal, short-term gains , at the expense of the livelihoods of the people of Pakistan 🇵🇰.

After a beautiful morning rain and great weather, smog is lifted from lahore. I was expecting the provincial government to withdraw their notification of closure of nearly all businesses. There is no point in keeping the businesses closed for tomorrow. It’s still a wait.

Role of Bureaucracy is to follow processes to maintain stability. They work on single entry accounting. Departments are provided a budget and they have to spend.

Dollar was at 237 in interbank trade. Dollar value of all products from Pakistan is becoming more competitive. We should achieve export of 45 B dollars if we increase textile export to 25B$, food items 10B$, engineering including mobiles 4B$, Silakot 3B$, misc 3B$. Make strategy!
At least one hypothesis is confirmed after 70 years. Devaluation does not increase exports. There are other factors like innovation, productivity, quality, capacity etc which find markets.
the government should notify holidays for government employees only. private companies have lots of commitments to both local and foreign customers. holidays should be limited to gazetted holidays notified at the beginning of the yr so that businesses can be reliable suppliers.
