✨️1st May 2013 - the day that Direct Access became a legal and legitimate way that a patient could access care from a dental hygienist or dental therapist without seeing a dentist first. ✨️It meant that new independent businesses could be established, that new businesses within a business could grow, and most importantly, that patients could access oral healthcare from their preferred clinician when they wanted to. ✨️This group of people shown here (photo shared with kind permission from Dave Martin) were instrumental in making this happen. ✨️This would not have happened without our professional organisations working together with others.
