It turns out Iran didn't shoot a short-range anti-ship ballistic missiles (ASBMs) at the USS George Washington and an accompanying destroyer escort but rather medium-range hypersonic "carrier killer" Qassem Bassir ASBMs that can reach speeds of Mach 5-8.
This is the first time in US history that we know of that a US near peer competitor has fired a hypersonic missile of any kind against a US warship. The US Navy has very little defense against hypersonic missiles and so these Iranian hypersonic ASBMs pose a deadly threat to US aircraft carriers and their escorts.
If even one or two hypersonic missiles hit one of our carriers and it caught fire and was forced to withdraw from the region smouldering it would be a massive blow to US prestige. That is something Iran could do at any time whenever it chooses to do so if Trump fooolishly decides to keep escalating his illegal, unconstitutional imperial war of aggression against Iran.
BREAKING: For the first time since the start of the war, Iran's IRGC attempted to hit a US nuclear aircraft carrier in the Gulf of Oman yesterday, using the Qasem Basir medium-range anti-ship ballistic missile which has a range of approximately 1,200km.
In response to the strike, US CENTCOM has permanently disabled 3 Iranian oil tankers, including the M/T Downy off the coast of Kharg Island, the M/T Stark 1 near Jask, and the M/T Kylo in the Gulf of Oman.
Iran now directly warns Trump that "All US naval ships are now targets. Any strikes on Iranian ships will be met with multiple strikes on vessels linked to countries participating in the anti-Iranian aggression."
Iran is again launching anti-ship cruise missiles toward a US aircraft carrier and/or vessels under US Navy escort in the past few minutes, per initial reports.

Trump said: “We could leave [Iran] now, but we want to make sure it lasts for a long time.”
This is the forever war his supporters swore he would never do. The same guy who wrecked Jeb Bush in 2016 over Iraq and Afghanistan is now deliberately dragging this out so Iran “never rebuilds.”
If you’re still backing Trump and the current GOP, you’re voting for more open-ended wars. The anti-war Trump is gone.

BREAKING: Iranian officials now believe a joint U.S.-Israeli attack is imminent and instructing the country’s armed forces to directly activate the decentralized “Mosaic Defense” doctrine, with commanders reportedly receiving extensive lists of U.S. economic and political targets to strike if war erupts, per Fars News.
A senior Iranian security official warned that U.S. political assets and infrastructure in countries participating in the conflict could be directly targeted. The doctrine disperses military command across 31 provincial commands, designed to allow Iran to continue fighting even if its central leadership is attacked.

BREAKING: Iran has instructed all arms of its armed forces to treat political targets associated with the US and other participants in the war, along with their infrastructure, as legitimate targets in the next round of large-scale war with the US and Israel, which Tehran considers certain, per a senior Iranian security official to Fars.
It comes as Trump has shifted toward favoring a preemptive strike on Iran in recent hours.

Republicans are about to get slaughtered in the midterms.
A hated president. A horrific economy. A war no one wants and a defecting base. History will cite the betrayal that caused it.
If it's true that the US has defeated Iran, then why does it have undisputed control over the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf which they did not have before the war? If we have defeated Iran's military then why did Trump withdraw all US Navy ships 1,000 kilometers from Iran's territory?
If the US obliterated Iran's nuclear capabilities in June 2025 and set it back by decades as Trump claimed, then why did he start another war on Iran and why is he continuing to fight it?
If the US has won the war, then why does Iran continue to reject all his pleas to end the war unless he accepts all of their maximalist peace terms? The answer is that it is because Iran is winning, the US is losing and everything Trump is saying about the war is a bald-faced lie. The majority of the American people understand this is a war of lies and they are going to vote for the candidates who promise to stop it.

The U.S. has no control over its own war with Iran.
Trump reportedly pleaded with Netanyahu to delay strikes until after the November midterms, offering U.S. forces to carry them out if he agreed.
America’s war. Netanyahu’s terms. Our military.
In late March 2022, following a blitzkrieg advance by the Russian army in which it conquered 27 percent of Ukraine in just a few weeks and with Kyiv partially surrounded by over 1,100 Russian tanks from three directions on both sides of the Dnipro River, Russian President Putin made Zelensky an offer he couldn't refuse.
The terms of the Russian deal were that Ukraine had to agree to neutrality outside of NATO and partial demilitarization, disband its ultra-nationalist militias and political parties and grant equal rights to its Russian minority. Ukraine could retain its independence and sovereignty with security guarantees from all five members of the UN Security Council and join the EU. In exchange, Russia would withdraw its troops from 100 percent of Ukraine's prewar-controlled lands leaving Ukraine in control of all but seven percent of its internationally recognized territory.
After initially expressing his willingness to take the deal, Zelensky changed his mind, under pressure from UK PM Boris Johnson and then President Joe Biden, and was a no-show to the signing ceremony in Istanbul on April 9th, 2022. I warned at the time that if Zelensky rejected the Istanbul Agreement, Russia's peace terms would grow much harsher, and Russia would proceed to annex 3-4 Ukrainian oblasts and that is exactly what happened five to six months later.
Now, Zelensky says he would be happy to give up 20-25 percent of Ukraine's territory after he has lost over a million troops killed in action, another million maimed and severely wounded, 36-42 percent of Ukraine's population and 25 percent of its GDP. This leaves Ukrainians wondering what the point was of Zelensky unnecessarily prolonging his unwinnable war with Russia only to lose three times more territory.
The reason was that Zelensky knew doing so was the only way he could retain his dictatorial powers and embezzle enough Western aid money to achieve his goal of becoming a billionaire oligarch so hundreds of billions of dollars would keep pouring in. He knew the moment it ended he would have to hold democratic elections and flee the country to avoid prosecution and imprisonment on corruption charges.
President Trump is absolutely right when he says that the diminutive 'dictator without elections' is to blame for the outbreak of the war and the destruction of his once great country!

Zelensky hates Trump, openly supported Kamala and Democrat for President. Ukrainian operatives were involved in assassination attempts against Trump!
Now Zelensky is openly defiant against Trump and working hard to STOP the US from buying Russian diesel by destroying Russian refineries! He wants gas prices to remain high!!
Zelensky is working to hurt Trump and Republicans in hopes that Democrats win the midterms and take Congress. He is no friend of America!
Former Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Ukraine) actually just posted something I agree with. Former British PM Winston Churchill absolutely could have shortened World War Two by four to five years.
All he had to do was accept Hitler's surprising peace offers in July 1940 or May 1941 to withdraw German forces from 81 percent of German-occupied Europe (and North Africa) in exchange for an end to the war with the UK and a free hand to lead his long-planned 'international crusade' against the Soviet Union. Doing so likely would have saved the lives of six million Jews who died during the Jewish Holocaust.
Similarly, Zelensky could have ended the war in April 2022 by signing the Istanbul Agreement mandating the withdrawal of all Russian troops from Ukraine's pre-war controlled territories in exchange for Ukraine's neutrality outside of NATO and partial demilitarization. History is constantly repeating itself and those who fail to learn from the mistakes of history are condemned to repeat them.
Churchill could have shortened WW2 by years if he had just “done a deal” with Hitler. George Washington could have done a deal to end the American Revolution. Zelenskyy is in good company.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Hitler's July 1940 Reichstag speech was a vague appeal with no specific withdrawal terms or 81% figure. Hess's 1941 flight was unauthorized with only general proposals; detailed claims match only the poster's accounts, not records. ibiblio.org/pha/policy/194… britannica.com/biography/Rudo… encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/art…
Here is a link to my expose on Hitler's July 1940 and May 1941 peace offers to the UK to withdraw German troops from 81 percent of German-occupied Europe including France, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Norway, Yugoslavia and Greece along with Libya and Egypt in exchange for the British giving him a free hand to fight the Soviet Union. dpyne.substack.com/p/lost-op…
Trump's Iran 'excursion' has raised the price of gasoline by 50 precent, increased the price of diesel by 70 percent and driven up mortgage interest rates by 30 percent.
Americans are justifiably furious at Trump for increasing the cost of living and making it more unaffordable forever all because Bibi Netanyahu blackmailed him into starting an unwinnable forever war over Trump's misdeeds relating to the Israel Mossad Epstein sex ring.
Trump's second term has been a total disaster and it's about to get much, much worse after the Democrats win 53-54 Senate seats and 240 plus House seats and start investigating and impeaching Trump and his minion Pete Hegseth for crimes against our God-given Constitution.
It looks like Trump may be Netanyahu's puppet president after all! Netanyahu appears to have ordered Trump to resume largescale US military strikes on Iran along with Israel in a last ditch attempt to win the October 27th elections even though Trump knows it will hurt Republican chances in the mid-term elections.
BREAKING: The U.S. is now ordering the complete evacuation of its embassy in Saudi Arabia, with all American staff and their families instructed to depart immediately, according to a diplomatic source cited by AFP.
The evacuation order reportedly extends to the families of embassy staff in the UAE, Jordan, Qatar, and Bahrain, signaling a major escalation.
Back in November 2024, I warned that Trump's neocon warmonger Cabinet picks like Rubio, Ratcliffe and Waltz would likely sabotage his America First conservative agenda and that is exactly what has happened as Trump has started an illegal, unwinnable America Last forever war in the Middle East on false pretenses.
He ran on 'America First' and has governed as an 'Israel First/America Last' president. The American people are about to pass the verdict on his disastrous foreign policy and economic policies which amount to a full-frontal assault on their pocketbooks making the cost of living unaffordable for working class and even many middle-class Americans.
Trump could have helped to make the GOP a generational majority party and instead is consigning it to minority status for the next decade or two and paving the way for the folks he has denounced as "Communists" to take control of America maybe for good. History will not remember him kindly.
Joe Biden started the fire in Eastern Europe and the Middle East and Trump, after having vowed to end America's forever wars and not start any new ones, poured gasoline on the flames and flushed his presidential legacy down the toilet.
Republicans are about to learn a huge lesson in politics: you can't run on "America First" and then pledge your loyalty to foreign interests.
Trump's approval on the economy: 39%. Inflation: 30%. Cost of living: 28%. Gas prices: $4.47 and climbing. And 22% of Republicans now say he's making things worse.
You don't win midterms when your own base is jumping ship. You lose them. Brutally.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 US troops are being pulled back from bases in Jordan, Qatar and Kuwait and embassies across the Middle East are cutting staff... the same drawdown the Pentagon ran the week before the war started in February
Four sources told NBC the moves mirror the pre-war playbook: leave air defenses and security, get everyone else out of missile range.
The options on Trump's desk include Pickaxe Mountain's tunnel entrances, Qeshm island in the strait, and Kharg Island, where almost all of Iran's oil leaves the country.
Hegseth is privately pushing to go; other advisers are asking what the end looks like.
Trump promised on Oct. 8 that nothing happens before Nov. 3, and one official says "before or after" is now on the table.
Kharg is the target that ends the regime's economy or spikes Brent past $130, and the troops being moved tonight are the ones who'd absorb the answer.

By undermining multiple peace opportunities, including the deal that Ukraine negotiated for itself in April 2022, Jake and allied bipartisan hawks haven’t just neutered Ukraine, they’ve cost it hundreds of thousands lives and a much more viable future. Every goal imputed to Putin is a projection:
Jake Sullivan on Ukraine:
I think Putin doesn't just want the four oblasts and I think he doesn't just want a neutral Ukraine, he wants a neutered Ukraine.
He wants a peace outcome, peace in quotes, that will allow him ultimately to render Ukraine essentially a non-viable entity.
I think he needs to be denied that goal because I do think it is in the American national interest ... to ensure that this kind of aggression cannot ultimately succeed.

Trump says he's the boss. But every time Bibi calls, Trump picks up. Every time Israel wants a war, America fights it. And every time the bill comes due, it's US soldiers and US taxpayers that pay for it.
Trump is not the boss.
He is Netanyahu's bitch.

George Washington did sign a deal to end the Revolution. It was called the Treaty of Paris, and it established America’s boundaries and water rights, handled war debts, allowed for return of prisoners of war, provided restitution for property, and even gave the British the right to navigate the Mississippi River.
That’s how wars end. Mitt Romney doesn’t know this, because Romneys don’t fight wars. Romneys either flee to Europe or stay home and get rich while better men fight wars for them. The Romneys never saw a war they weren’t willing to dodge while demanding better men fight it for them.
