Hideo Kojima has spoken about AI after Death Stranding 2 entered the discussion around Nvidia’s DLSS 5.
Kojima says he has “mixed feelings” about AI. He can see the benefits, especially for restoring old photos and movies, but he doesn’t like the idea of AI taking control away from the people who actually created the work.
“As the person who made the original, I wouldn’t want someone changing it too much,” Artists make specific choices, such as lighting and visual style, for a reason, and AI may not understand the original idea behind them.
Asked about AI making changes by itself, he replied, “I wouldn’t like that.”
He also believes AI will likely become normal in the industry. “Maybe AI will eventually do all that automatically,” “In a hundred years, the resolution may be even higher. But I don’t much like the idea.”
