cheaper VMs = you can spawn more VMs = your agents do more work = you make more money = you come back next month to spawn more
new on boat.dev
compare sandbox/cloud VM providers not just by cost,
but by how much you can scale your fleet on different usecases with a set budget
cheaper = scale more
boat is winning even harder when you look at it like that

all aboard!
day1 support for:
- tunnel urls
- pre-build images
- filesystem snapshots
and all the other existing platform functionality of OI

@boatdotdev and deepseek v4.1 flash is the ultimate combo
both so cheap/fast that i been spinning up like +10 sandboxes and like 100 dsv4.1f agents at once
and it barely costs $20
hell yeah

@boatdotdev is an amazing service and it's massively undersold. So I'm going to list everything I love abt it
- spinning up a vm takes 1.3 sec, and forking a running one takes 3
- insanely good dx on snapshots. set a box up once and every new one boots from there
- you can build android apps. gradle, kotlin and java are there, and an android 14 image comes preloaded to run them on
- you can build windows apps. wine runs .exe files, and you can boot a whole windows 10 vm inside it
- there's a desktop you can access over vnc at 60 fps
- computer use for u agents built in. including a screen recorder
- every harness is already installed: claude code, codex, cursor, opencode, pi, kimi, vibe, hermes, openclaw
- agents know how to spin up more boats(life changing)
- basically every language is ready: node, bun, python, go, rust, java, kotlin, .net, ruby, php, elixir, r
oh also i guess it's cheap asf
unpopular opinion:
personal assistants are really not the most compelling usecase for cloud VMs sandboxes
he is right you can run them on nothing. the same way a real life personal assistant doesn't need a HPC cluster, just a phone + Acer laptop
agents hillclimbing in science, arts, engineering, is what will have a usecase for unlimited CPU compute
and those will be trillions of agents, running hundreds of trillions of vCPU, because the unsupervised post-economic value there is uncapped
assistants are for current human civilization, HPC clusters are for long horizon kardashev climbing

why boat wins:
our CLI lets you(r agents) do absolutely anything in any way possible
and since you(r agents) can report feedback with it, and I keep handling feedback same day as I wake up, it keeps on self-improving
we're not just the cheapest or most powerful sandbox, we're the lowest-friction sandbox
and that is what takes the most effort, and is the hardest to throw money at to solve
loving this
if i was looking for a designer (I'm not) I would be hiring him on the spot with whatever it takes
tip for being hired: put the value forward and don't expect the founder to spend >10s and 3 brain cells on it
how much we should reward for finding a super critical* vuln in boat in our next open bounty program
(super critical = you can take over anyone's sandbox without communicating with them, like a VM-host takeover for instance or a compromission in our access controls)
