This is unbelievably patronising but don't worry, the centrist London commentators will be along soon to tell us it's expert level comms that really connects with the people 👌
Cod we take a moment of your time to set out how public spending works in Scotland? 🐟🍟
From the fiscal framework to the Barnett Formula - Minister for Scotland @melanie_ward explains!

And we all said, as Labour were relentlessly attacking Fergusons and the SNP Government, if ever a day comes when they have to let go of some workers, Labour will suddenly, as if by magic, portray themselves as shipyard saviours.
Hypocrisy levels off the scale from @UKLabour today.
They have spent years, in fact ever since the Scots gov saved Fergusons, running down the yard. Mocking the vessels and undermining the yards future.
We see you.

These monsters don’t just walk among us.
They present national radio shows.
Only someone who sees Scotland as being junior to England could say this! Also John Swinney does not pay himself more than the UK PM so please correct that. He voluntarily returns £54k of his salary every year which is 10X as much as the UK PM returns. UK PM earns £40k MORE.

Man whose entire political agenda is built on widening devolution and giving power to areas that didn't have it suddenly isn't interested in constitutional change when Scotland is brought up. Curious !
Omg Nigel Farage just said he came out of being an MEP with ‘very little money’. He was on over £100,000 a year. That’s not NO money and if he thinks it IS then it is completely out of touch with the ordinary people he claims to identify with. Do not fall for it.

Yes I remember this well - it was Scottish Labour’s Jackie Baillie MSP who extended the ‘Right to buy’ and I led SNP opposition at the time arguing it would reduce availability of housing - blast from the past photo on link but!
Andy Burnham has blamed the 'right to buy' for the shortage of social housing in Scotland.
In 2001 the then Scottish Housing Minister extended the 'right to buy' scheme. The minister? Jackie Baillie.

It's interesting how many folk think a bank holiday to celebrate Scotland getting into the WC is a waste of time but said nothing about the bank holiday to celebrate the coronation of King Charles which was held on the Monday after it.

I can honestly say I’ve not spent a nanosecond of my life thinking about the sexual preferences of lesbians.

Agree. Do they understand the audience they attract because they are usually known for actual journalism? Perhaps they are looking for new viewers with different interests.
Do it! Independence, learning to stand on their own two feet would be great for England.

What would happen if voters in England were asked 'would you like indepndence from Scotland?'

Excluding Greens, the SNP hold a seat majority Neil.
Including Greens, it's the biggest majority for indy ever, bigger than Salmond's 2011 fluke win.
Ruth Davidson knew the score.
Obviously, you don't like the result...
‘it’s share of the vote that matters in a referendum’ - he does know last Thursday was an election and not a referendum right? Also clearly not read the Greens’ manifesto which is fine I suppose but don’t opine on something you’ve not read esp as a journalist.
Ok. Let’s do that. SNP + Greens took 49% of the vote and 72 MSPs between them in 2021.
On Thursday their combined share of vote was 41% but they ended up with one more MSP between them — 73.
So combined share of vote down 8 percentage points. Hardly momentum for independence. And it’s share of the vote that matters in a referendum.
Nor does one more MSP for independence change anything. There was a majority of MSPs for independence before Thursday. Much good did it do them. So what’s new?
Nor does anyone seriously think combining Green and SNP MSPs a serious basis for claiming independence. Even Nicola Sturgeon acknowledged it wasn’t.
Even more so now — the Green manifesto for Thursday did not include independence. So it’s no mandate for independence.

Pleasure to speak this afternoon with the leadership of Plaid Cymru & Sinn Fein - @RhunapIorwerth, @MoNeillSF and @MaryLouMcdonald.
The direction of travel and demand for independence is clear, and Westminster should grasp the significance of this moment.
One of my favourites Alan Alan Brown MSP
Congratulations my friend @AlanBrownSNP ! What an amazing person to represent us!
Many more wins to come!!
