The Oates Collections at Gilbert White’s House and Gardens takes a fascinating look at Lawrence Oates, who volunteered to take charge of the dogs and ponies on Scott’s British Antarctic (Terra Nova) Expedition 1910–1913 and accompanied Scott to the South Pole, but died on the return journey in March 1912.
We were privileged to co-host a special event with our VR tour partners @AntarcticHT at this wonderful location. The extensive galleries, homestead and stunning gardens are well worth a visit if you are near Hampshire, United Kingdom.

Over the last four days 284 people have taken a virtual visit to Antarctica at Discovery Point in Dundee, Scotland – home to Scott’s ‘Discovery’ ship.
The final stop on our UK tour provided a very special opportunity for museum guests to understand more about what life was like during the early years of Antarctic exploration by taking part in one of two immersive virtual reality experiences, NZAHT’s VR of Scott’s ‘Discovery’ hut built in 1902, and @AntarcticHT's ‘A Frozen Night’ featuring Stonington Island, a key dog sledging base established in 1948 on the Antarctic Peninsula.
Thank you to the team at @DiscoveryDundee for inviting us to share Antarctica’s important cultural heritage sites with your visitors in a new and exciting way through immersive digital technology!

Thank you to the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London for hosting our Antarctic VR Tour.
It was wonderful to share Scott’s ‘Discovery’ Hut Virtual Reality Experience alongside our tour partner @AntarcticHT 'A Frozen Nigh't VR with museum visitors and staff. Our team were also able to explore the National Maritime Museum’s collection of objects spanning the heroic-era expeditions. This includes an ice axe and telescope (image two top), sextant stand, portable transit instrument and compass (image two left) from Scott’s ‘Discovery’ expedition, Scott’s sledging goggles and overshoes (image two centre) from his ‘Terra Nova’ expedition, and Victor Hayward’s diary (image two right) which he kept until the day he disappeared while serving as a member of Shackleton’s Ross Sea Party, who were tasked with laying depots to support Shackleton’s planned crossing of Antarctica during his ‘Endurance’ expedition. Be sure to check out their fascinating Polar Worlds gallery if you are in London.
