I saw Jeffery Rosen live yesterday. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Except my fiction has been so inspired I can't focus on the non-fiction I'm currently working on! I'm so overwhelmed! There's another local event in November that will be even more inspiring. Six weeks. Do I even dare go? I don't know anyone. Can I handle any more inspiration? Can I be fully immersed in my historical work by then? That would make things easier.
All this pressure better produce an effing diamond.
Self-inflicted. I know. Actually it's kind of fun.
I'm going to take Word of the Moment down from 4 dictionaries to the 1957 Webster's and the New Oxford digital one. It's just not garnering the impressions or growth that I would like it to achieve. I like the concept so I don't want to just drop it.
Otherwise I'm hunkered down for the winter with my books to read and my books to write.
As for the False Quit Dates, I have completed 11 articles on the framework of the "program" and discussing withdrawal symptoms. I'm thinking about cycling those while I continue working on the specific issues related or indirectly related to nicotine addiction. IDK. It might be a couple of weeks yet before I start posting those.
If you have an interest in getting over nicotine addiction please follow or bookmark. There is no commitment. You're just reading my opinions. It's not like you'll magically quit smoking just by reading something.

Lifelong Democrat says he’s horrified with what he’s seeing in the current Democrat Party “I’m not exaggerating, I study history, it reminds me of 1930s Germany”
“I used to consider myself a lifelong Democrat. I'm a card-carrying hippie, an environmentalist. I've lived with trees and redwood trees to do forest protection. I care about the world. I care about minority rights. I just want to say publicly though, that the course that the Democratic Party is taking right now — commercials coming out of Michigan and and just the movement in general — I would like to publicly say, like, I renounce my standing with the Democratic Party.”
“I'm so disappointed and disgusted with the dangerous turn the Democratic Party's taking. It reminds me, and I'm not exaggerating, I study history, it reminds me of 1930s Germany.
I don't get it — I feel like the party's been infiltrated by, I'd say demonic — the Free Palestine movement, in my opinion, is a Trojan horse. It's not about freeing Palestine. It's not about freedoms — it's about Islamic expansionism”
“It’s been a curse everywhere that flag shows up. Look at Paris today. It's a curse. Look at those college campuses and the college minds. It's a curse wherever it goes — I just want to publicly renounce my affiliation — I just want to say publicly I'm not a Democrat”
Everyone in America needs to wake up immediately like this man
It’s no longer Red vs Blue
It’s radical Islam Jihad and an open border to bring down America vs voting Red to Save America from becoming Islamic
We have to Vote Red

There will be less daylight in winter, no matter how much you tinker with the clock.
FROM THE BEGINNING, If the “providing more daylight” thing were true, they would have instituted DST in the winter when there is 8 hrs of sunlight. But instead they did it over the summer when there is over 16 hrs of sunlight. The whole thing is a sham.
END FAKE TIME
DST does not provide more daylight. We spring forward as the days get longer naturally in the spring. Then we fall back to natural just when the days start getting short.
This. This right here.
Daylight Savings is a spectacular example of humanity's ability to manufacture a problem & then make everyone participate in the solution.
We literally change the clocks twice a year and call it saving daylight...as if moving a number on the wall somehow renegotiates the Earth's position with the sun

Taurine was one of the first game-changer supplements for me. I could tell a difference in inflammation and a general sense of well-being, as if the pressure was off. I mostly do 1 tsp in the am. I will cycle in and out of a second tsp in the afternoon.

With a glycemic index of 85-105 you can't slap an organic label on maltodextrin and make it ok just because it's sourced from non-GMO products.
If I was avoiding dextrin products before, I still am. You aren't convincing me to buy your product just because you found a way to get organic maltodextrin.
OMG! First Chekov now Pickard!
What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work.
My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.
This is why the FDA should remove the folic acid requirement. Some people can take folic acid, some can’t. Some people can take methylfolate some can’t. Some people can take folinic acid, some can’t. The government shouldn’t be making this decision for everyone. Then wonder why half people have problems with food.

T cells can get worn out. Researchers call it T cell exhaustion, and most of the early work came from HIV and hepatitis C patients in the 90s.
When a T cell keeps seeing the same antigen for too long, it turns up brakes like PD-1, TIM3, CTLA-4 and LAG-3 and stops responding well. In mice, 1 to 2 weeks of antigen made healthy memory T cells, while 2 to 4 weeks pushed them toward exhaustion. It works more like a dimmer switch than an off switch.
A portion of long Covid patients show this pattern, and a 2024 study found it was common in ME/CFS. In one study, when treatment improved CD8+ T cell function, symptom severity dropped by more than half. By 24 months, many long Covid patients had T cells that looked more normal again, along with better quality of life.
Exhausted T cells also tend to have struggling mitochondria. Genetic variants shift how easily you hit that threshold. 👇

It’s just best to make food at home until all this gets straightened out.
Just let them all know we are done.
Mission flour tortillas have 11 ingredients. A tortilla needs 4, flour, water, fat and salt.
The bag lists enriched bleached flour, water, vegetable shortening made from interesterified and hydrogenated soybean oils, then 2% or less of salt, sugar, baking soda, sodium acid pyrophosphate, distilled monoglycerides, fumaric acid, calcium propionate and sorbic acid.
The shortening is soybean oil that was hardened in a reactor so it acts like lard at room temperature. Baking soda and sodium acid pyrophosphate are a baking powder split in two, so the tortilla puffs on the hot plate in the plant. Distilled monoglycerides are an emulsifier. They keep the starch from going stale and hard, which is why a Mission tortilla is still soft weeks after you bought it. Fumaric acid drops the pH, and calcium propionate and sorbic acid stop mold in a bag that isn't refrigerated.

Doctors learned inflammation could change mood by accident in the 1980s.
Interferon alpha was used for chronic hepatitis, and some people on the highest doses quickly developed depression, agitation, emotional swings and even paranoia. Lowering the dose made the psychiatric side effects go away.
That history still explains sickness behavior today. When you fight a virus you get tired, irritable and want to be left alone, which is a useful short term response.
The problem is when those same signals stay on for months. TNF and IL6 variants are part of why some people seem more sensitive to that shift. 👇
