In this series of BreakThrough™ With Christopher Adams, MD, leading surgeons Michael A. Gallizzi, MD; Raymond J. Gardocki, MD; Saqib Hasan, MD; and Christopher A. Yeung, MD, explore the latest innovation in percutaneous pars fracture repair. Common in adolescent and young adult athletes,[1] pars interarticularis stress fractures can result from repetitive extension forces on the lumbar spine. These injuries are frequently observed in sports such as gymnastics, football, and cheerleading. Explore how minimally invasive percutaneous pars fracture repair uses a fully threaded spine compression screw to directly stabilize the fracture. October 16 is recognized as #WorldSpineDay, to bring awareness of spinal health and the importance of physical activity worldwide. #ArthrexSpine is focused on minimizing soft-tissue damage through ultra-minimally invasive endoscopic treatments supported by advanced instrumentation and unparalleled surgical skills training, all aimed at motion preservation. We’ve been thinking about a simple question we ask surgeons: What do your patients want to get back to? The answers are often the everyday things such as running, playing a round of golf, or walking the dog without pain. It’s a good reminder that spine surgery isn’t just about a procedure. It’s about helping people get back to their lives and the things they enjoy. We’re grateful to the surgeons who share that goal and continue to push the field of endoscopic spine surgery forward. New from Arthrex Spine: percutaneous compression screws for pars fracture fixation. As the only fully threaded, hydroxyapatite (HA)-coated compression screws on the market with a specific indication for pars fracture repair in adult and adolescent patients (12 years of age and older), these implants are designed to deliver compression across the fracture site while helping preserve the native motion segment. When restoring anatomy and preserving motion are priorities, having implants and instrumentation designed for the approach matters. The system combines specialized compression screws, drill guides, and compatible instrumentation to support percutaneous, motion-preserving fixation in appropriately selected patients. Every throw tells a story. 💪 At just 16 years old, German javelin thrower and #ArthrexAthlete Konstanze Irlinger suffered a torn UCL in her right elbow and faced a long road back to competition. Thanks to #Arthrex innovation, Prof. Dr. med. Andreas Lenich (Munich, Germany), performed an elbow UCL reconstruction using the InternalBrace™ technique with gracilis graft for a reliable fixation. Today, Konstanze says she feels stronger than ever, proving that setbacks don't have to define her future. Watch as Konstanze shares her comeback in her own words at arthrex.info/4y72iR5. #UCLInjury #Sponsored The InternalBrace surgical technique is intended only to augment the primary repair/reconstruction by expanding the area of tissue approximation during the healing period and is not intended as a replacement for the native ligament. The InternalBrace technique is for use during soft tissue-to-bone fixation procedures and is not cleared for bone-to-bone fixation.

As the Medical Education Manager for Arthrex Long Island, Diana Delio has a front-row seat to the latest minimally invasive products and procedures. “I support the Arthrex faculty surgeons who come in to teach others how to use our products safely and effectively in the lab,” Diana said. Little did she know that she would eventually undergo one of those procedures herself. “Diana had a sizable disc herniation in the cervical spine [at C6-C7],” Jacky Yeung, MD said. “She had exhausted conservative options such as physical therapy and steroid injections in the neck, and they did not give her relief.” Read her full story: arthrex.info/47tBhMC

Arthrex Completes First Spine Procedure in Latin America! Allan Hiroshi de Araujo Ono, MD, and his team successfully completed the first ultra-minimally invasive endoscopic spine procedure using Arthrex innovation at Hospital São Camilo in São Paulo, Brazil. The patient, a 32-year-old diagnosed with incomplete cauda equina syndrome, presented with a neurosurgical emergency involving acute neurological deterioration. After conservative treatment failed, the patient developed severe lumbar radiculopathy, progressive neurological deficits, saddle anesthesia, and significant sphincter dysfunction. Imaging revealed a large extruded L4-L5 disc herniation causing substantial compression of the dural sac and cauda equina nerve roots, requiring immediate surgical intervention. An urgent lumbar endoscopic discectomy was successfully performed to achieve neural decompression through a ultra-minimally invasive approach. Beyond its clinical significance, this procedure marks an important milestone for Arthrex Spine in Latin America and reflects the collaborative effort between the surgical team, Arthrex Brazil, and our local partners, including local distributor, SP Intervention (SPI), to bring innovative, ultra-minimally invasive spine technologies and solutions to surgeons and patients across the region. Learn more about Arthrex Spine: arthrex.info/4h19adj _______________________________________________________________ A Arthrex realiza o primeiro procedimento de coluna na América Latina!
