I have a theory that there's 2 paths available to every person. You can live somewhere cold/grey and try to proactively resist the creeping despair in winter or you can live somewhere sunny/hot but you must guard yourself against becoming fucking insane at any given moment

I’ve NEVER been the perfect employee. I often showed up late. ADHD meant that I had a really hard time with certain deadlines and organizing my time. My saving grace was being p good at my job despite those shortcomings, having a good personality/presense, and networking.

A great loss. One of my favorite college memories is the joyful collective suffering of our close-knit physics cohort as we brute forced 30 hour E&M problem sets in the POA library at 3am, often while slightly drunk. I can still taste the world’s worst coffee. Great friends.

I finally have all 1.2 million raw image files from my latest mission to ISS! Here is a sample of one of my favorite Milky Way photos, taken from the Cupola with Nikon Z9, Arri Zeiss 15mm lens, T1.8 with custom sidereal drive that cancelled out star motion relative to our orbit.

the first (and last) time I tried to use chatGPT to summarize research papers and find references, it returned a full list of papers to me, with DOI numbers and all, that were entirely fake. the papers did not exist. they weren’t real.
