Earlier this summer, we raised $50M from Google Ventures for our Series A. This is a unique moment (for 🇺🇸) for two reasons: 1️⃣ This is the fist time U.S. shipbuilding as an industry has a new company, focused on building a ship product, with the capital and team to do so. 2️⃣ Google Ventures’ entry reminds us that, in the defense tech renaissance, much of democracy’s best talent and capital has remained on the sidelines. No longer. We owe a ton of thanks to our existing investors - all of whom participated in the Series A - the rapidly growing Blue Water Team, and to our very understanding families. We will work relentlessly. Now check out this dope picture of our hardware on the salt water - more content coming soon.
We are proud to announce our Series A. @GVteam and @davemuni - with all Blue Water insiders joining - have led a $50M round that allows us to deliver for our customers and our country. 🇺🇸 We are not slowing down. We have used the last year to hire the best robotics engineers in Boston, build a team of veteran shipbuilders, and open a third office in Washington D.C. We are testing on the salt water on ship-scale hardware. We are building capability to attack America's shipbuilding crisis at its core. This round allows us to build our first full ship and keep pace with a Navy customer that demands speed. We will double down on our fully autonomous design, deepen relationships with our 50+ suppliers, and deliver mass-producible ships to the U.S. Navy and future customers. Thanks to our incredible employees, their families, and to our investors. All of us know this is only an early chapter in the story of America's maritime industrial renaissance. Much work lies ahead. 🛠️ Damn the torpedoes. @Sethwinterroth @smarcus @rylanhamilton @Turnip #shipbuilding

The thing you'll never get from the pic is the mixed smell of cut steel and fresh paint 🇺🇸
Frames set. Deckhead on. Pipe going in. Here’s the latest look inside Liberty’s hull at Conrad Shipyard, where she’s coming together frame by frame. What this hull is being built to do: > Stay at sea for 2–3 months at a time, with no crew onboard > Cross the Pacific on her own, with 10,700 nm of range > Ride out Sea State 7 > Carry six 40-ft or twelve 20-ft containers. Containerized payloads mean a new mission is a new container, not a new ship 220 ft. Up to 27 knots. Designed unmanned from the keel up. See how Liberty works: blw.ai/technology

Very curious about the price here, felt like Rune had strong momentum and it’s interesting to see a legacy player come into the scene. Awesome news for a company only 2 years old.
Congrats to the Rune team (from our very first Cohort!) on the acquisition. Much more to come! And shout out to @CalebJohn24 for the intro to Peter a while back!

Enjoyed speaking at the Maritime Autonomous Vessel Risk Council this week at Army Navy - our panel was the "real world" viewpoint. Four big risk buckets of USV risk on my mind: 1⃣ Engine room & machinery reliability, automation, and autonomous operation. 2⃣Class approval to get us to inspected, insured autonomous ships. Still much work to do by many hands. 3⃣Manning, maintaining, budgeting - right now this is all dependent on government. 4⃣Passive day/night perception that doesn't rely on AIS, doesn't give away your position with RADAR emissions, and doesn't get confused by waves, seagulls, fog, etc. @BlueWaterShips getting after 1 and 4 every day. Many great Americans burning down risk on these lines of attack. 🇺🇸

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine encouraged hundreds of military personnel and commercial logistics insiders gathered in Texas on Monday to embrace more entrepreneurialism as they prepare for future wars. On the opening day of the annual Fall Meeting co-hosted by the National Defense Transportation Association and U.S. Transportation Command, Caine described expanding the nation’s industrial capacity and the military’s strategic mobility as essentials to ensuring combat power in the years ahead. Want a look inside our testing - now you have it. Atlantic Endurance is the first of its kind OSV certified by @USCG for fully autonomous testing
Don't hit anything. It's the first rule every mariner learns, and Atlantic Endurance goes to sea five days a week to practice it. Here's a look inside how she does it. She's an 82-ft offshore service vessel. We took the passenger seats out, put the autonomy stack in, and wired it directly to her jet drives. She is the first Subchapter L vessel approved by the U.S. Coast Guard for autonomous testing. How she sees and decides: Cameras, radar and inertial navigation feed one operating picture. All processing happens onboard, distributed across the ship. For every contact, the system detects it, estimates where it's headed, and decides how to maneuver under COLREGs, the same rules of the road every other vessel on the bay follows. Detect. Estimate. Decide. Every day on the water builds confidence in the systems that will go aboard Liberty, our 220-ft autonomous ship for the open ocean. Proven on Atlantic Endurance. Built into Liberty from the keel up. Take the tour with our engineers, Spencer and Clay.

After Army Special Forces graduated the first batch of robotics-focused warrant officers earlier this month, hopes — and demand — for the new job are high. Ten warrant officers became Robotics Technician Integrators on Oct. 2, heralding a new class of experts charged with galvanizing the Army’s technological crusade by embedding with units and guiding commanders on how to effectively employ an ever-evolving stable of systems. scoopmedia.co/3W9PMmq

Healthy debate from @BreakingDefense on whether DoW - mainly Army - is effectively signaling demand to industry. Calling one-time-money like reconciliation "artificial" is incorrect though - that's very real $$. It isn't as certain over the long term as appropriated, POM'd $$... but artificial = wrong characterization. breakingdefense.com/2026/10/…

I did my university research on aluminium, was editorial assistant for one of aluminium researchers in naval architecture & wrote the handbook for BP. Aluminium is not a good material for ships. They will crack because the SN curve is a straight line down, only a question of when.
