China's digital currency is linked to its mandatory biometric digital ID, which is linked to its vast network of facial recognition cameras. Citizens can pay for things using "convenient" facial recognition scans. On the flipside, this also grants the government complete control over how—or if— people can spend their money. Imagine this woman wanted to buy a cola, but she'd already exceeded her carbon allowance this month. The digital currency can be programmed to algorithmically refuse the transaction. Or imagine she'd criticised the government on social media, and thus found herself blacklisted by China's social credit system. The digital currency can be programmed to freeze her funds entirely. Make no mistake: This dystopian nightmare is coming to the West if we ever allow our governments to roll out digital ID and CBDCs.

If you want to help thwart the digital prison that's being incrementally constructed all around us, start making a committed effort to pay with cash as much as possible. If a physical retailer doesn't accept cash, don't reward them with your money—and make it clear why. A polite but firm conversation with a manager can have more impact than people think, especially when many customers do it. Remind them that cashless payment processors charge extortionate processing fees, while accepting cash costs them nothing. Make a habit of asking "Do you accept cash?" even if you already know the answer. The more people who ask, the more pressure retailers feel to keep cash alive. Economic pressure works both ways. For essential online purchases, use prepaid cash cards bought with cash. The less of your digital footprint you leave behind, the more freedom and privacy you keep. Reduce your dependence on corporate franchises and supermarkets wherever possible, and try to support local suppliers directly instead. If you must use a supermarket, pay with cash and refuse to use self-service checkouts. Start building local, decentralised parallel networks. Farmer's markets, small independent shops, community co-ops, and skill-sharing circles reduce reliance on centralised digital systems. Yes, your life may become less convenient in the short term, but you'll also be making it less convenient for the digital control architecture to be rolled out. If you're committed to stopping the digital enslavement agenda, you will need to get used to your life being less convenient anyway, because—just like with vaccine mandates/passports—one vital part of that agenda is to make life as inconvenient as possible for the non-compliant. The quicker you get used to inconvenience, the stronger your resistance will be when the pressure escalates. Digital control thrives on people choosing convenience over freedom and privacy. Every time you choose the harder but freer option, you disrupt the roll-out of the digital control architecture. Remember: Short term inconvenience is better than permanent digital enslavement.
