If anyone is seeking an insensitivity reader to make their work more offensive, I charge a reasonable rate.
As a reference, here's some disgusting poems I had published @miserytourism . . .

I’ll admit that my first thought about this was oh great, another platform. But I checked it out yesterday and have to say I’m so impressed! The design and features are incredibly thoughtful and practical.

It’s hard to imagine the effort that went into this good literary deed, this unexpected gift to readers and writers. Fills one with gratitude and hope.

Cambridge, MA city council just passed a policy order 5-4 to divest the city pension funds of (at least) the following:
Israeli bonds
Lockheed Martin
Palantir
Elbit Systems
GE Aerospace
Boeing
Could not have done it without @Cambridge_DSA and Cambridge for Palestine. 🌹🍉
So, the hypocrite who campaigned to get people fired from their jobs for talking smack about Kirk after he ate that bullet has gotten the axe for . . . talking smack about some College Republican president who died in a car crash.
Bravo!

A pretty bleak article about the lengths Big Five publishers will go to force AI on its authors and staff. I used to believe a contract with one of these companies was the great goal of writing novels. It’s freeing to realize they don’t actually care about literature.
For @WIRED, I spoke with Macmillan and PRH staff about AI at the rest of the Big Five.
I also spoke with bestselling authors who've gone to "war" with publishers over AI use and are now demanding disclosures and threatening to leave their publishers altogether.

The fact that music and drama being apolitical has been normalized tells you that real art is a threat.

Gaza kids and families are being starved desperately fetching food and supplies.
Most families rely on free food distribution centres which don’t provide them with the nutritions their bodies need.
The winter is also coming. It’s terrifying beyond words.

$3.1 trillion in off-balance-sheet debt across just nine tech companies.
That's bigger than the 2007 subprime mortgage peak.
Now Wall Street's repackaging speculative data center debt and selling it into workers' pension and retirement funds.
Same 2008 playbook, new wrapper.
The marching band at 2:26 is fuckin' rockin'!
On Oct. 17, France witnessed some of the most intense urban unrest in its recent history. Hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated across the country, while clashes with police, widespread looting & burning barricades transformed the streets of cities: unicornriot.ninja/2026/tikto…

“Three years into a televised genocide, growing more profitable by the day … we are deep into a major unrestrained predatory elitism,” with “state power influenced by corporate interests, weaponized against civilians,” said UN Special Rapporteur @FranceskAlbs, in a video message for DAWN’s 2026 Annual Gala & Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C.
“And it didn’t start in Gaza. This is where it became global and televised.” With U.S. support, since 2001, “torture, indefinite detention, and now genocide” have been normalized, said Albanese, who has been targeted by the Trump administration with sanctions for her work upholding international law and Palestinian rights.
To counter these injustices, Francesca Albanese said, “we must think and act together. Transnationally. And on principle. Bodies on the line if that’s what it takes.”
“The rule of law hasn’t gotten us to heaven, for sure. But it has kept us out of hell. And hell is on the horizon now. So let’s hold the line together,” Albanese urged.
Earlier this month, in response to a DAWN and Taxpayer Alliance Against Genocide (TAAG) lawsuit against the Trump administration’s sanctions targeting Albanese, the International Criminal Court, and Palestinian human rights organizations, a federal court issued a preliminary injunction barring the administration from imposing penalties on DAWN and TAAG for submitting evidence to the ICC or engaging with Albanese and the Palestinian organizations.

Spent a few hours reading @whduryea's new article about the online writing survey he conducted in sept, and the results are fascinating. this is a must read, especially for William's incredibly detailed & insightful analysis of the results. He did an incredible job all around.
It took me about a month longer than I expected, but here, as promised, is the substack article unpacking my indie lit survey. It's ... lengthy, but I was authentically surprised by many of the results.
