Callum came this evening. Late. The other day I sent him two short videos explaining the issue that there was no receiver for the thermostat. Tonight he told me the issue and it’s the same issue I told him. He’s due to come back tomorrow to fit a receiver and new thermostat.
We’re expecting a plumber to arrive today. His name is Callum. Will he turn up? Let’s find out.

Today marks the death of Alfred the Great, on 26 October 899. At Edington he broke the Great Heathen Army, built the burh system and the first English navy, and confined the Danes to the Danelaw. Then he turned to culture. In the preface to his translation of Gregory’s Pastoral Care he wrote that learning had so decayed that few could even read their own letters in English, and set out to fix it. He had the books “most needful for all men to know” put into English, required his reeves and ealdormen to learn to read, and issued a law code that joined biblical principle to the customs of his people. Alfred understood that a people holds its ground both physically and spiritually - by defence, literacy and shared duty.

Alfred the Great died on this day 1,127 years ago. He is most famous for defending Wessex (and ultimately Anglo-Saxon England) against the Viking invaders and for laying the foundations of a more unified English kingdom.
This is Winchester Cathedral. It rises from the ground where more than eleven centuries ago, Alfred the Great was first laid to rest. In the late ninth century the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms came as close as they ever had to extinction. The great Viking armies had broken the old powers, monasteries lay in ruins, learning had almost ceased, and his people (the Angelcynn) seemed on the point of vanishing. But Alfred didn’t merely hold the line with force of arms. He understood that a people isn’t held by swords alone. He set about the important work of recovery: the restoration of learning, the translation of essential books into the tongue of his people, the founding of schools, and the beginning of a chronicle written in the language of the people themselves. He saw, with unusual clarity, that a people who lose their memory, their language, their inherited wisdom cease to exist long before they are finally conquered. This cathedral stands upon the same ground, a continuous thread between his age and ours. The problem Alfred faced then, faces us again today. Civilisations don’t only fall to invasion. They fall when they no longer care to remember what they are. What he preserved then, we may still lose. And what we lose, a later age may never recover.

Went south along the river today. Dog refusing to step foot the other way. The second time he’s done that in the last few days. I don’t know what he knows yet but I intend to find out.

I’ve just messaged Callum to see where he is and if he intends coming. I don’t hold out much hope.

Callum never did turn up. He did text yesterday morning and ask if I was free, I said yes between these times, he never text back. He messaged in the evening to ask if I was free today (Sunday), I asked give me a time and he said “morning”. It’s now 11:40 and he’s still not here.

One of the most depressing aspects of conducting these council-by-council housing audits is the realisation that British taxpayers are being made to fund an extraordinary system of housing provision for people arriving from overseas. The money is earned by British workers, collected through taxation, and then used to provide accommodation, welfare and housing for foreign nationals. But it gets worse. The government is not merely spending billions on asylum accommodation, Afghan resettlement and Ukrainian housing. It is also providing councils with enormous capital grants to PURCHASE residential properties for these schemes. In some cases, councils are borrowing additional money to finance the acquisitions. Think about the implications of that. British people work, pay their taxes, struggle with astronomical rents, compete for scarce social housing and increasingly find themselves priced out of homeownership. Meanwhile, their taxes are being used to fund dedicated housing programmes for people arriving from abroad. In some cases, councils are even taking on long-term debt to acquire those properties. This is not simply about immigration. It is about the priorities of the British state and the extraordinary redistribution of taxpayers' money towards housing provision for foreign nationals. The more councils I audit, the more astonished I become at the scale of the expenditure and the long-term commitments. This is deeply unfair on so many levels.

The Norman fighting spirit is risen.
Rouen rises up. French patriots take the streets with flares and flags shouting: "We are at home! Line up!" They stop the looters and take back the town.

PRESIDENT Trump wins executives powers back to destroy deep state. You are witnessing a systemic return of the constitution in the USA. The Constitution is the Solution. It MUST be enforced.

BOOM. The Great Reclamation has begun. The Supreme Court just restored Trump’s constitutional power to remove rogue commissioners from federal agencies. For the first time in ninety years, the President can clean house. The walls of bureaucratic tyranny are cracking. Since 1935, the presidency has been a hostage. A hidden ruling called Humphrey’s Executor v. United States created a shield around unelected bureaucrats buried inside so-called independent agencies. They could not be fired. Not by Congress. Not by the people. Not even by the Commander in Chief. These were the Deep State’s castles inside the government. Protected. Untouchable. Writing rules with the power of law while answering to no one. For decades, they dictated policy, destroyed accountability, and made every president a figurehead in his own house. That ended this week. In a ruling few expected but history will never forget, the Supreme Court confirmed that President Trump has full constitutional authority to remove Democratic commissioners Mary Boyle, Richard Trumka Jr, and Alexander Hoehn-Saric from the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The Court reminded the nation that executive power belongs to the President alone. Not to agencies. Not to boards. Not to faceless lawyers. The 6-3 decision has detonated the foundation of bureaucratic immunity. Trump can now terminate any commissioner who obstructs reform, dismantle ideological mandates, and reclaim executive control over agencies that have operated like private empires. The ruling sets a precedent that can sweep through every corner of the federal maze — FTC, SEC, NLRB, CDC, FDA, DOE. Hundreds of unelected operators who hid behind the term “independent” are now exposed. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is only the beginning. Nearly 700 positions across Washington fall under the same model. With this judgment, Trump holds the legal weapon he was denied in his first term. The sword is back in his hands. Inside the Deep State, panic has already begun. For decades, they didn’t need to win elections. They only needed to control who stayed behind. By embedding loyal operatives inside untouchable posts, they guaranteed their agenda survived every presidency. They wrote laws under the cover of regulation. They censored industries through “safety standards.” They shifted policy without ever standing for a vote. That structure is now collapsing. This decision is not about staffing. It’s about sovereignty. The hidden coup that began ninety years ago has been reversed. The unelected state no longer outranks the elected one. The legal scaffolding that protected the regime is being dismantled piece by piece. That is why the media is silent. They understand what this means. If Trump uses this authority — and he will — the entire architecture of shadow governance will fall. Agencies that weaponized policy for ideology will be stripped of power. Mandates will be rescinded. Political infiltrators will be removed. The Deep State’s invisible army is finally within reach. Trump’s second term begins now, with the power he was denied in 2016. The presidency is no longer a cage. It is a command post. He can purge the administrative state, rebuild federal institutions that answer to the people, and restore a government that serves its citizens instead of its masters. This is The Great Reclamation. The end of ninety years of executive humiliation. The day the balance returns. The Deep State buried the presidency under red tape and called it democracy. But the chains have been cut. And Trump now holds the axe.

A precedent set. Perhaps now England and Wales, Ireland and Scotland can start dismantling the Civil Service, and the British deep state they serve, holding us back, restoring our constitution and returning the balance of power.
