Hard frost, sub 30 degree temps, and the first snow in the Tetons — time to start putting her to bed! Not a bad view to begin irrigation blowout.

One of my favorite parts of being involved in a new build is getting to see the shapers bring dirt to life. It's truly impressive to see what they can do with a dozer.
Shaping is far more art than science… but you can’t make many changes on the fly. Career shaper Chad Whitten shares some of what he's learned. golfcourseindustry.com/news/…

Where you choose to live shapes who your family becomes. The landscape they grow up inside. The values they absorb from the people around them. The relationship with the natural world that becomes part of their identity. Grand Teton Club was designed around this idea. grandtetonclub.com

Gary is also getting trained to manage the robots. Service scheduling, mapping, troubleshooting. Gary is not going anywhere, fools think the opposite

Gary doesnt get replaced. Gary is going run a 3 staff crew and start leading small projects for course improvements. All those projects that are ‘wait til fall’.. Gary is on it. Doom and gloom is bs. Guys like Gary are being wasted by sitting on a mower
What Gary brings to the industry can’t be duplicated. But Gary is being replaced. Blame autonomous mowers. From the publisher’s pen: What happens without Gary? golfcourseindustry.com/news/…

To believe autonomous mowers require no supervision and no maintenance is a superbly ignorant assumption. Gary isn't getting replaced, not at any of the courses I'm aware of. Robotic mowers are a tool. You still have to be able to operate without them.

This article is as close to fear mongering as we get in the turf world. “Gary mows. Or Gary goes.” “…Gary is being replaced. Blame autonomous mowers.” Find me one super who has let one of their best employees go because of autonomous operations…

Agree 100%, John. I’d hire Gary tomorrow and use him for more than just mowing. I bet he’d even be able to keep that hypothetical new fleet of robots looking clean!
Interesting piece. My thought is Gary is far from being replaced. Supes are some of the most creative problem solvers I know. Gary was underutilized in your example and he is about to get an upgrade in the golf maintenance space now to use his golf IQ, sense, and sensibility. An analogy if you will: Automated banking has been around a long time. The teller is still here and is more systems analyst then bank book typist. Just sayin

Favorite time of year in the Tetons.
October is the valley at its most golden. The aspens blaze along the foothills. The mornings arrive clear and cold. The first snow settles on the high peaks while the valley floor holds onto fall a little longer. The summer visitors have gone home, and the season narrows to the people who know this place best. On the course, six holes of the New American Links-Style Course are established and maturing, and the land is being readied for winter. Seeding resumes in spring. For many Families, autumn is when a distant idea becomes a real question: what would it mean to build a life shaped by this landscape, and by the people creating something lasting within it? It was never only about a home. It is about more good years, a landscape that restores, and the chance to build something lasting with people who value the same things. Sometimes ya just gotta sit and take it all in. It was a hell of a 2026 growing season. Low temps and snow in the forecast for next week. Final mow this week ahead of blowout and snowmold applications over the coming weeks.

Killer has officially become a @DogsOfTurf now that she has mastered the sprinkler chomp.
The owner of the original farm house has a pup that roams all corners of the property, and lately, I’ve had no choice but to accept her as my own during the work day. Her name….Killer. Don’t let the smile fool ya though, she hunts voles with the best of them. @DogsOfTurf

13,775 feet. The highest peak in the range. At dusk, when the alpenglow turns the granite pink and the valley goes quiet, the Grand Teton is simply one of the most beautiful things on Earth. Alpenglow is the glow that lingers on the Grand Teton just after sunset, when the peaks catch the last light of the day, turning rose, then copper, then deep purple against a darkening sky. It lasts only a few minutes. For those few minutes on a clear evening, the Grand Teton looks lit from within, and Families at Grand Teton Club watch it from their own porch. For those minutes, nothing else exists. This is what you choose when you become a Family here. grandtetonclub.com

Pretty incredible impacts of the timing of autonomous mowing on dollar spot development. On the peak disease date of Aug 12, 2026 there was a 96% reduction in DS when mowed at midnight compared to 9 AM and a 91% reduction when mowed at 3 AM. The pics below tell the story

This was shot on 1x zoom. I think he was circling us so he could size up Eugene for a snack. Eugene lived on the streets of the Wind River Reservation for a year at the beginning of his life so he was unbothered by the “threat”.
