Great to see Birdie up and about again.
These street dogs never cease to amaze me. I was sure that Birdie was gone. If you need a huge smile today this will sort you out! Unbelievable scenes!

"...and a chaplain" is a nice finishing touch. I wonder how the students reacted?
An oldie but a goodie. In 1968 a bunch of entitled hippy bastards sent a letter detailing their specious demands to the Warden and Fellows of Wadham College, Oxford. This was their letter of reply, which speaks to how far the academy has since fallen.

23 OCTOBER 1991. SHE WAS HIS WIFE. SHE WAS NOT HIS PROPERTY. The day the House of Lords ended the marital rape exemption in English common law. For centuries, English law had tolerated an extraordinary proposition: that a woman, simply by marrying, had given her husband consent to sexual intercourse that she could never withdraw. The idea was famously expressed by the 17th-century jurist Sir Matthew Hale and published in his History of the Pleas of the Crown in 1736. It became known as the marital rape exemption. It rested upon a legal fiction: that marriage itself supplied permanent consent. A woman's refusal could therefore be treated very differently depending upon whether the man assaulting her was her husband. On 23rd October 1991, the House of Lords decisively rejected that doctrine. The case was R v R. A husband had been convicted of attempted rape and assault occasioning actual bodily harm after attacking his estranged wife. He appealed, arguing that a husband could not, in law, be guilty of raping his wife. The legal question before the House of Lords was stark: Could a husband be criminally liable for raping his wife? The Law Lords unanimously answered yes. Lord Keith of Kinkel examined the history of the supposed exemption, including the increasingly narrow exceptions that courts had developed over the preceding decades. The problem was not simply that the law was old. It was that the principle upon which it depended was indefensible. Marriage did not make consent irrevocable. The judges rejected the proposition that a husband possessed a special immunity from the ordinary criminal law of rape. Importantly, Parliament did not pass a new law legalising prosecution on that day. The House of Lords removed a supposed common-law immunity, recognising that it no longer formed part of English law. The ruling was a landmark for England and Wales. Scotland had already rejected the supposed marital exemption in 1989. And it raises an uncomfortable historical question. How many generations of women had lived under a legal system in which marriage was treated as diminishing their right to refuse? A wedding ceremony does not extinguish bodily autonomy. Marriage is not perpetual consent. Thirty-five years ago today, the highest court in the land confirmed a principle that should never have been in doubt. Historical source: R v R [1991] UKHL 12, 23 October 1991.

⏰️ Today marks 7 days since NHS England published it's Privacy, dignity and safety in hospital accommodation and NHS staff facilities guidance 📢SEEN in Health members are still reporting near-silence from their organisations, except from Unions opposing the implementation of the law. ⁉️ still no apologies or offer of support for staff silenced & disciplined for raising their head above the parapet & pointing out unlawful mixed-sex policies in their workplace. ⚠️ Still no clarity on responsibilities or timelines for legal compliance of patient accommodation or staff facilities. 📰 Local communication strategies, woefully slow to acknowledge the changes required to meet legal compliance within organisations ⚖️ NHS staff need to know the policies & guidelines that have been in place and enforced for years are unlawful and are a safeguarding risk. 🚨 Senior management and boards must be held to account for continuing to not inform staff of the risk of following unlawful policies & guidelines @NHSEngland @NHSuk @YvetteCooperMP @karinsmyth @EHRC @DHSCgovuk @H_S_E #SexMatters #NHS #Safeguarding

🚨Announcement: My lawsuit against the Tavistock is going to trial this November. This is the first ‘anti-White’ harassment case against the NHS & the first 'colour-blind' belief case. I'm claiming my career was ended for disagreeing with Critical Race Theory & ‘anti-racism’ The claims I am bringing are discrimination, harassment, and victimisation. It will be a 20 day trial starting on 4th November with the judgement on 30th November. The Tavistock are calling 13 witnesses. In a recent hearing the judge agreed to include further claims of bullying and harassment as legal disclosure revealed that NHS senior staff at the Tavistock were openly calling me a “fascist” and a “racist” I do not currently have enough money to pay for the trial. Please, Please, donate, retweet & share my crowdfund:

This doesn't surprise me but it's still incredibly disappointing. Parliament is full of cowards.
Not one female Labour backbencher turned up to Parliament for the debate about dumping 1,200 illegal male migrants in an army camp in Piddington. Labour have so far, refused to meet a single woman from Piddington. Labour only care about women when it’s convenient for them.

On drug facilitated rape in intimate relationships. A Manchester court is preparing to sentence a husband who has pleaded guilty to 60 offences, including drugging and raping his wife for more than 20 years. Twelve co-defendants are on trial, accused of abusing her while she was unconscious. The Women’s Rights Network says this is NOT an isolated case. More on our substack: womensrightsnetwork.substack…

Coffee time. I’m seriously thinking no one is interested. I can’t even get a 100 followers in a week. Other folk who haven’t been hacked are using my old site as a repository of paintings for their site I’m choosing the best art and I don’t think folk are interested anymore. .I’ll not stop but I’m so tired of getting nowhere. Fewer posts. I’m very sad and upset. @helen_warlow

Good morning you beautiful people. Let’s start our Sunday nice and peaceful and happy. Here’s a photo I took some time ago when I was moored up north on the Grand Union Canal in what felt like the middle of nowhere, with just the woods around me and a boat moored some distance back. He lit his fire and as the smoke floated across the still canal with the old stone bridge behind, it could have been a scene from 200 years ago. Have a lovely Sunday.

20 and I still do a few of them. Still love my dictionaries too and have lots of them. The only hitchhiker I picked up was a young woman, because I didn't want anything bad to happen to her.
I got 19. Rotary phones were too far before my time.

This is how it should be.
I'm a cashier at a grocery store, and two years ago I noticed something about Tuesday mornings. A lot of our older customers come in then, and a lot of them get flustered at checkout. They fumble with coins while the line behind them sighs. Some of them apologize the whole time. One morning a man in his eighties dropped his change all over the floor and got down on his knees to pick it up while a woman behind him actually said come on. He left without his groceries.

"Imagine telling your daughter, sister, wife or mother that if she objects to undressing in front of a man at work, she is the one who must leave. That was our reality.” Powerful full speech from President of the Darlington Nursing Union, Bethany Hutchison, at the 'When Reality Meets NHS Policy' Conservative Party conference fringe event

I was on a night ferry from Felixstowe to Rotterdam and it was like this. We had to hang onto the table edges to stay seated and the air was filled with the sounds of smashing crockery, crying children and people being sick.
How waves impact life aboard a ship.

In Milgram’s obedience experiment, 65% of participants followed orders all the way to the maximum 450-volt shock, which they believed they were administering to another person. But in a variation where two fellow participants refused to continue, 90% resisted. So they had to observe someone else non complying. Resisting to engage in that atrocity. Then the noncompliance skyrocketed to 90%. All you had to do was observe someone else say, no, I am not going to do that. And now it provided permission for others to resist it.
