The contrast is stark between the Mayor’s response to the cancelled event in Amsterdam with the Irish government’s complicity & silence when the National Concert Hall cancelled a staged reading of the Oct 7 narration of the experience of 14 survivors of that days slaughter & its despicable silence on the refusal of the Herbert Park Hotel to host an international conference on antisemitism jpost.com/diaspora/antisemit…

This is quite a remarkable turn of events. According to the Irish Daily Mail, Simon Harris twice requested that a motion put forward by Sarah Hynes to affirm Fine Gael as a centre-right party be considered at this weekend's Ard Fheis. His request was rejected by the party's Executive Council both times.
The Mail reported in relation to the second dismissal, "Last night, the council again rejected Mr Harris’s plea in a second stunning defeat. ‘There was a standoff going on here,’ one party source said."
So Simon Harris, who clearly senses that the party is in its death throes after listening to grassroots members, has been slapped down by his own Executive Council.
What that of course means is that if he is given the heave-ho, the next leader of the party can be assumed to be an open leftwing leader (unlike Varadkar who, ahem, remained in the closet, as a progressive pretending to be a centrist). By rejecting the call to affirm that they are a centre-right party, FG's Executive Council confirm what has been evident through policy for the past decade. Fine Gael are a left wing party.
That clarity is something at least. Now even low-information voters know where they stand.
There was a major blue tide in America but the blue liberal wing of Fine Gael is also flexing its muscle and delivering a devastating blow to party leader Simon Harris just days before the party Ard Fheis trib.al/dG98Qfo

A United Nations title should not place anyone above scrutiny. Yet that is precisely what appears to have happened during Francesca Albanese's visit to Ireland.
Despite international condemnation, calls for resignation from European governments and demands for a UN investigation, Albanese was welcomed by Irish political representatives without question.
She dismissed documented antisemitism against Irish Jews on national radio, then appeared before an Oireachtas committee making a series of outrageous, unsubstantiated allegations.
Not one demand for evidence. Not one challenge to her most shocking claims.
Instead, she got praise, admiration and smiling photographs.
Since when did an Oireachtas committee become a place where extraordinary allegations are applauded rather than examined?
Our elected representatives have a duty to exercise independent judgement, ask difficult questions and demand evidence for serious allegations. That responsibility should never be set aside, regardless of who is speaking.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, wearing a kippah, speaks out against antisemitism disguised as criticism of Israel.
“Hatred of Jews disguises itself as criticism of Israel. Denying its right to exist is crossing the line into antisemitism.”

Every single day I get hate on X. Particularly from Irish people. So, I just want to remind them all — I am not Jewish. I live in Israel. I am an Irish citizen. I am also an Israeli citizen. And I am a super proud Zionist. That’s all. Enjoy life. Be happy 😘

I am so ashamed right now to be a Michigander. My late mother was born & raised in Wayne County. We used to visit Greenfield Village in Dearborn which is practically a no-go zone now. We studied at @UMich. My mother sewed her own clothes. My grandfather worked in a Ford factory assembling cars…a typical, working-class family. Michigan was a wonderful place to grow up in. Michigan is officially doomed.
