Today, we gave our considered opinion and recommendations to the Joint Committee on Finance & National Planning together with the Committee on Public Debt and Privatisation on the Proposed sale of 15% GoK stake in Safaricom PLC. Kenya must have a goal of getting the most optimal value out of our Public assets. The current transaction is buyer driven and they are taking advantage of Kenya. Block sales even of listed companies are not based on Market Pricemand it is naive for Kenya to be cornered to give out our most priced asset for a song. The transaction happening between Diageo and Japanese Asahi cements that proposition. The share is currently trading at Ksh 244 but they are transacting at Ksh 590 per share. Rea Vipingo, Amson & Bamburi and many others are examples that are recent. The Government should open the bid to International players and get the best value for our Country, Kenya. We commend the Committee led by Hon Shurie Abdi Omar and Hon Kuria Kimani for the cordial discussion we had. We still have a chance to avert the imminent loss of value & GoK must do the right thing. We are African and Africa is our Business..

Article III of the 10 Point MOU between ODM and UDA. Devolution must continue to be protected from any possibility of claw back on devolved functions, and more effort must be put at devolving all funds allocated to a devolved function, increasing budgetary allocation to counties and ensuring the timely and predictable disbursement of devolved  funds.

Larry Dwayne and Jesse David are redefining climate advocacy in Kenya through their roles as creative art-ivists. By harnessing the power of music and art, they connect with young people in ways that are relatable, impactful, and inspiring. Together, they have nurtured a movement that demonstrates the value of creativity and talent in advancing climate action. Their work has become a catalyst for youth engagement, offering platforms for young people to express themselves, support conservation, and be recognised as key stakeholders in addressing environmental challenges and the climate crisis. Through the Leading the Change (LtC) Project, WWF-Kenya has been instrumental in supporting these efforts, amplifying youth voices in climate discourse, and empowering a new generation of environmental champions across the country.

Scenes from Mida Creek, Kilifi County, as Kenya marks International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem. From traditional dances and strategic launches to mangrove planting and community celebrations, this year’s event captured the spirit of collective action for climate, biodiversity, and coastal livelihoods. Kenya has restored over 8,361 hectares of mangrove forests, planted 1.6 million seedlings, and continues to empower communities through nature-based enterprises. As these moments show, mangrove conservation is more than policy. It is about people, pride, and protecting what matters

Kenya Celebrates International Mangrove Day at Mida Creek The International Mangrove Day was marked today at Mida Creek Kilifi, led by CS @Environment_Ke, @DrDeborahbarasa. This year’s theme, “Protect Wetlands for Our Future,” emphasized the vital role of mangroves in climate resilience, biodiversity, and coastal livelihoods. CS Barasa launched 4 key policy documents to boost mangrove conservation: National Mangrove Ecosystem Guidelines, Kenya National Mangrove Manual, Mangrove Tree Nursery Manual, Mangrove Harvesting Plan With 61,274 hectares of mangroves along Kenya’s 600km coastline, KFS continues to lead restoration efforts, especially in Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, and Kwale working with local communities & various stakeholders. PS @Forestry__Kenya, @GMugambi_CBS, DCCF Beatrice Mbula, and RFC James Mburu joined in reaffirming Kenya Forest Service’s commitment to protecting mangroves vital for climate resilience, biodiversity, and livelihoods. The event featured mangrove planting, cultural showcases, and community exhibitions, marking a powerful call to safeguard Kenya’s mangrove ecosystems. #MangroveDay2024 #TreesForBetterLives #JazaMiti
