A glimpse from a 1954 Government of India documentary titled “Good Manners.” Shot in everyday Mumbai, it quietly captured what civility looked like then, offering a seat in a crowded local, a BEST conductor holding the bus for an elderly woman. More than a documentary, it feels like a time capsule of how the city moved, with patience, respect, and an unspoken code of kindness. #OldMumbai

#WATCH | Maharashtra | Firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff | In the case involving the firing incident linked to Tiger Shroff, the Mumbai Police brought 4 suspects arrested by Delhi Police, Kunal (21) and Sumit (19), and Radha (23) and Babita (23), to the Anti-extortion Cell in Mumbai
#WATCH | Delhi | Firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff | Praveen Tripathi (DCP, Special Cell) says, "Yesterday, a special team arrested 4 people, including two women named Radha and Babita and two men named Sumit and Kunal... Having recently been released from jail in connection with another case, Kunal, acting on instructions from Anil Pandit, traveled to Amritsar with his associate, Sumit, to collect weapons from a specific location. With the help of his associate Radha, he then had these weapons transported to Mumbai. In Mumbai, Radha and Babita delivered the weapons to a minor near the railway station... Kunal used Radha and Babita as couriers. He leveraged his personal relationship with Radha to involve her, and they traveled to Mumbai by train, carrying the weapons... Kunal was in contact with Anil Pandit via encrypted communication. Previously, at Anil Pandit’s behest, he had carried out a shooting incident in Panipat. This time, too, he was receiving instructions from Anil Pandit via social media and relaying them further... The instructions concerned logistics: where to pick up the weapons, how to transport them to Mumbai, and to whom they were to be delivered upon arrival..." When asked if any other celebrity was targeted by them, he says, "Nothing of that sort emerged during our interrogation, as these individuals were merely part of the weapon supply network. Their knowledge was limited strictly to where to procure the weapons and where to deliver them..." He adds, "Anil Pandit and Harry Boxer are part of Randeep Malik gang, whose name has recently surfaced in connection with extortion calls and incidents of firing... They were in contact through encrypted channels, from which they received all their instructions, which they then followed... According to our preliminary information, Kunal received Rs 70,000-80,000 for facilitating the movement of the weapons; out of this, about Rs 10,000-12,000 was given to the courier, Babita... Kunal and Sumit are from Sonipat. Radha and Babita are originally from UP, but they were residing in Sonipat, where they were employed in security-related work... These individuals had come into contact only over the last 2-3 weeks for this specific task. They departed from here on the 15th and reached Mumbai on the morning of the 17th; near Dadar railway station, around 11 o'clock, they handed over the minor boy."

Excellent example of responsive governance. A surprise, staff-free visit by @DighavkarKiran , Deputy Commissioner (Solid Waste Management), @mybmc, to the flagged Garbage Vulnerable Point in Khar’s Pali Hill, followed by an open coffee meeting with citizen forums from across Mumbai, shows real intent to listen and act. Credit to @MNCDFbombay @trivan205 and partner groups for sustained follow-up, and to the officer for stepping out of the office. More such surprise inspections and direct citizen dialogues will strengthen civic ownership and deliver lasting results. #CleanMumbai #BMC #SolidWasteManagement #CitizenEngagement #MumbaiCivicIssues
A surprise visit, without any staff, was conducted today by Mr. @DighavkarKiran, Deputy Commissioner, Solid Waste Management, @mybmc, after we flagged issues at a Garbage Vulnerable Point in Khar’s Pali Hill area. We also convened a joint meeting of Mr Dighavkar with members and representatives of citizen forums from across Mumbai. This coffee meet was to understand city's solid waste challenges and solution and from Mr Dighavkar. He took time and explained citizens about various policies, execution and current works taken up by BMC. Citizens shared issues about their area and explained on various, on-ground bottlenecks in handling Solid waste across different wards. Mr. Dighavkar has assured proactive enforcement, including strict legal action against illegal dumping of construction and demolition debris across the city. We hope more officers from @mybmc come forward and meet citizens for a collaborative solution on various issues in Mumbai.

Cross the Sea Link toll from Bandra and suddenly Mumbai feels like a different country. Smooth roads. Beautiful promenades. Clear signages. Turns out the Sea Link toll isn't a toll. It's a Visa on Arrival for the good Mumbai. Visa validity: Until you cross back. 😂

Bombelli’s, Breach Candy. There was a time when a visit to Bombelli’s meant coffee, cakes, chocolates, good food and perhaps a little romance. Run by Swiss restaurateurs Freddy and Betty Bombelli, it became one of old Mumbai’s much-loved cafés. The Breach Candy outlet, seen here with its distinctive delivery van, stood where Amarsons-Premsons stands today. Bombelli’s was more than a confectionery. Its famous pastries and cakes, including its Black Forest cake, drew generations of Bombayites. In the evenings, live music and jazz filled the café, with couples and friends making it a favourite meeting place. There was another Bombelli’s at Nagin Mahal in Churchgate, where the Swiss café continued the tradition of coffee, food and music. Salman Rushdie even remembered the old Bombelli’s of Warden Road in Midnight’s Children, including its famous “One Yard of Chocolates.” Two Bombelli’s. One Mumbai. And countless memories.
