Let me be clear on this. That isnt the current rule. I personally think it was called correctly last night. But the rule on what is viewed as a check swing swing may change in the future.
If current ABS check swing rules (as used in parts of MiLB) were in place this would not have been a swing.

If Sleeper’s business plan didn’t include trying to leverage gold checkmarks into parasitic engagement, perhaps I’d be a little more generous. It’s not you. It’s your bosses. Even if everyone sees it and knows the score, I prefer not to oblige things that are cheap and vacuous.

Is every Sleeper account run by the same trash merchant or do they clone you all in a special stew of sucktitude?

The community note. 😂
Just a friendly reminder that the Dodgers had the Brewers on the ropes and would’ve beaten them 9/10 times

There’s something ironic about John Smoltz praising Jacob Misiorowski for his elite extension and low release height, then hating on “Analytics” moments later.

The World Series starts today. The AL's best team vs the NL's best team. Two fanbases that have never won before. The style of play everyone claims they are desperate to see. This is going to rock.

Christian Yelich told me that every spring he’d block off 4-5 hours for a dinner with Bob Uecker to hear his stories. So as the Brewers prepare to play in the World Series, Yelich has found himself thinking about his close friend. “He would have loved getting to experience this postseason run and being here for it,” Yelich said. “In a lot of ways, we feel like he’s still here with us.” fansided.com/mlb/brewers-wor…

Todd Benzinger played for the #SFGiants from 1993 to 1995, the final stop in his Major League career. We join the baseball world in mourning his passing, and our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time 🧡
The Cincinnati Reds are saddened by the passing of former first baseman and 1990 World Series champion Todd Benzinger. Todd will be remembered with great affection and gratitude for his place in one of the most memorable chapters in Reds history. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, former teammates and all who knew and loved him.

This is only part of the story. The Brewers and Rays also have two of the largest scouting departments in baseball. Rays - 80 scouts Brewers - 64 scouts The best teams are the ones with both excellent analytics/R&D staffs AND robust scouting staffs.
Three teams left, and all three have bigger-than-average analytics staffs. Brewers: 46 (2nd in MLB) Rays: 39 Guardians: 30 League average: 28.5 The Phillies have the biggest staff in baseball, and they're already home. Like payroll, it's one input. Everything else combined still matters more.

A lot of clubs have started to do a nice job making videos that shed light on their scouts and the scouting process in general. Cool to see. This is the backbone of every organization and most of these guys don't get enough credit. A few I've seen (1/2):

“I will die on that hill. If the Dodgers had the best version of Shohei Ohtani the hitter, they would have beaten the Brewers, they would have won the World Series.” “If to get the best version of Shohei Ohtani the hitter means he’s a one-way player, then that’s what best for the Dodgers.” - @DMAC_LA on if Ohtani should stop pitching next season

Miguel Mendez had it working in the desert. The @SFGiants' RHP prospect fanned five across three frames for Scottsdale and is tied for second in the Fall League with 12 K's in 7 2/3 innings:
