BBCNI is never more comfortable than when discussing the concerns, interests, desires & affairs of unionism.
It comes natural in a manner betraying a culture continuing to have a massive blind spot for nationalists

Spent some time around Moore Street this month. It's somewhere I would have walked through every schoolday at one time. Hard to believe that it has been let decay so much. A place central to our heritage, our capital and our radical past. Past time @GovIE stepped in!

No. 10 knowing back in 1973 that the UDR was hopelessly infiltrated by the UVF and UDA, and actively engaged in murder, remains one of the most existentially shocking facts to emerge from the conflict. IMHO.

Sir, you lecturing anyone about a shared society is quite remarkable
Your party held the First Minister’s office for almost 15 years, from 2007 to 2022. Where was this enthusiasm for equality, mutual respect and shared society during those years?
And dismissing what happened on Garvaghy Road 30 years ago as irrelevant is extraordinary and exposes how little you understand your neighbours. The intimidation, violence and treatment of residents are precisely why this dispute cannot be understood without its history.
You cannot demand respect for your traditions while dismissing the experiences and rights of the people expected to accommodate them.
The Ministerial Pledge of Office applies to everyone, not just political opponents. If you want to debate the rule of law, let’s apply the same standards to every party and every community

There are pictures of you standing passively in the middle of a riot situation in Twaddell Avenue as the PSNI were being attacked. You told reporters you were there to calm the situation. There were loads of PSNI members hospitalised that day. You didn't do a very good job m8.

This sort of comment got Pat Finucane and Rosemary Nelson murdered.
Shame on this fucking ghoul and Jim Allister nodding in agreement behind him.
The Brits are at it again.

The characterisation of the large numbers of people - from diverse backgrounds - who exercised their human rights to protest peacefully and to free expression - in relation to the Garvaghy Road - remains highly problematic.
A pause for reflection may be wise.

"Now they are disproportionately targeting Irish language jobs and reducing an already reduced team."
“BBC here will only have two Irish language staff amongst their 650 workforce. Live Irish language output will be decimated as a result of these cuts.”

Just did a live interview on France24 to talk about my book. When I said the word genocide, a producer told the TV anchor to say that “it hadn’t been juridically recognized.” Obviously I refuted him immediately and said we are not going to have this debate 3 years into this genocide. He was taken aback and could hardly finish asking the following question…

I spent almost two weeks on the Garvaghy Road supporting the residents. I spent most of my time on the night watch until 6-7am depending on police activity. I managed to take a lot of photos of the Garvaghy Road at night to show how peaceful and well managed the protest was.
While I expected a lot of abuse from loyalists, I was amazed at the amount of abuse and threats that came from Irish far right "patriots." Instead of supporting the residents the "patriots" sided with the loyalists. I should have expected this as many "patriots" marched and drank with loyalists during the various race riots and protests over the past year. They are absolute scum who contribute nothing to Ireland.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
A huge thank you to the residents of Garvaghy Road for taking me in and making me feel so welcome. So happy you got the peaceful outcome you all wanted.
No going back. 🇮🇪

The last few weeks suggest once again that the good people of our shared island-and well beyond-will stand with marginalised, vulnerable and traumatised communities.

There is nothing normal about any of this. Negative driving forces intentionally set out to create “culture war” tension. The facts are there to see. There is a tendency here to try to “both sides” everything and apportion equal blame. I won’t be deterred from calling it. Grim.

NEW: Statement on PSNI letters issued to Sinn Féin representatives and party members
A Sinn Féin spokesperson said:
“Sinn Féin can confirm that a number of representatives and party members have received correspondence from the PSNI in relation to peaceful protests on the Garvaghy Road.
“Sinn Féin have stood with the residents of the Garvaghy Road for the last two weeks in the face of provocation and the threat of an unwanted Orange march through their community.
“Standing up for what is right is always the right thing to do.
“Sinn Féin will continue to stand with the Garvaghy Road residents who should be allowed to live in peace and free from sectarian intimidation.
“Sinn Féin will continue to stand with the Garvaghy Road residents who deserve a future for their children that is free from fear and anxiety previous generations had to endure.
“From right across Ireland and the world, people have stood and spoken with one voice to protect 28 years of peace and to say clearly that they will not be dragged back.
“Because there is no going back. Not now. Not ever.”
