On one hand, I really hate seeing so many obviously disused former pubs. On the other, I know that almost all of them, if still extant, would be effective slaves to International Corporations who don't care about beer, and most of their customers would be complicit zombies...
I really want four @RoostersBrewCo beers I haven't had before, and three from @ElusiveBrew so both can overtake G-K and knock them out of the top ten in my beer ticking spreadsheet. The pivot table would look much nicer that way...
As an all-year-round cask drinker, I find #CaskAleWeek a bit conceptually 'meh' as it stands, but I do have an idea to make it actually mean something! benviveur.blogspot.com/2026/…
Bottles of #Bass just £1 in @Morrisons - I hardly ever drink ale at home, but that offer was too good to pass up!
I just tried a Dr. Pepper drink (some new variant or other) that tasted *exactly* like Cream Soda from the 1980s! Game changer!
The BV London Pub of the Year for 2025-26 is... @pubcathope Carshalton - now a five time winner! Runner-up is the Hand & Marigold in Bermondsey, with @CASK_PUB_SW1 , @TrafalgarSW19 and Golden Ark completing the top five. benviveur.blogspot.com/2026/…
I often think about setting up a brewery to brew the types of beer I really want to drink, but it would almost certainly fail because my tastes and preferences are so far removed from the mainstream...
My perfect beer still doesn't exist. And I've tried well over 15,000 different ones. Come on, brewers!

Tomorrow would have been GBBF at Olympia. That was cancelled. Instead come to Wandsworth where the Alternative Great British Beer Festival will take place in iconic Royal Victoria Patriotic Building Aug 5th-8th Tickets legothique.co.uk/beer-festiv… £15 @SambrooksBrew @DowntonBrewery
Sadly no @gbbf this year, but there is an alternative taking place in London, so get yourself to @WandsworthBeer next week for great beer and cider in a rather splendid venue!
The best thing about beans on toast is the melty butter. The best thing about chips is the beef dripping in which they are cooked. Surely even the most nutrient-deficient vegans could put a better argument together than this?!?
I've now had 100 different cask beers from the prolific @ElusiveBrew - looking forward to the next hundred!

Whenever I have to start a conversation with strangers, I always talk about the Mr. Frosty machine I had as a child. Well, it's an ice-breaker I suppose...
Hopefully @RedemptionBrew can survive in some form. 'Trinity' (and especially the occasional dry-hopped variants) is the absolute gold standard for modern table beer.
