My book 'Illness, Disability and Caring' looks at social & economic injustice, health inequalities, how caring without support can be traumatic, and how the Bible can help us to think about solutions to these issues.

"They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom."
Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas

❗Research from Save the Children: Palestinian children are being physically, emotionally and sexually abused, humiliated and starved in Israeli military detention.
The torture, and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment of children, is getting worse.
🔴 More than half of the formerly-detained children we surveyed reported witnessing or experiencing sexual violence
🔴 99% reported physical assault
🔴 82% reported being forcibly stripped naked
🔴 94% reported being denied medical care
🔴 100% reported being denied contact with their families

@YvetteCooperMP, @HFalconerMP: the UK Government should publicly call for the release of all Palestinian children arbitrarily detained and call for an end to Israeli military authorities arresting, detaining and prosecuting children.

Pope Leo XIV: "Among these ideologies, I consider particularly insidious the one that suggests that every person must earn or justify his or her own worth, to the point of attributing greater value to those who are more efficient or effective. From this perspective, persons end up being reduced to a means of achieving results, a resource to be used and exploited, and are no longer recognized as a proper end in themselves who should never be instrumentalized. The value of persons, however, does not depend on what they achieve or produce. There are rights that apply to everyone simply by virtue of being human, and no human power can legitimately deny or arbitrarily limit them." #MagnificaHumanitas

Tony Blair had a lot to say about growth on @BBCr4today this morning. But nothing about reducing inequality. Ask about growth: At whose expense? Who will benefit? Is it sustainable?

For years this meadow was cut back every fortnight until there was nothing but green silence 🌱
Now, after just two years without the constant mowing, it has become a living sea of Buttercups, Dandelions, Cuckoo Flowers, Thistles and Dock 🌼✨
The difference is astonishing....bees drift between flowers, butterflies rise from the grasses and every inch is filled with life that simply was not there before 🐝🦋
“Untidy” land is not neglect at all...it is recovery 💛

Let me trace the timeline here because nobody's connecting it.
Step 1: Scrape the entire internet. Every book, every article, every conversation, every piece of art, every forum post. Do it without asking. Do it without paying.
Step 2: Train a model on all of it. Call it "artificial intelligence."
Step 3: Go to BlackRock's Infrastructure Summit and announce: "We see a future where intelligence is a utility, like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter."
Step 3 is where you sell people's own knowledge back to them. On a meter.
They took the collective output of human thought, compressed it into a model, and now they want to charge you by the token to access a version of what you and everyone you know already created.
One Reddit user put it perfectly: "They stole all this data from us, the people, our life's work, creativity, art, by devouring the internet and blowing through all copyright laws. Now they want to sell it back to us in the form of a utility."
Imagine if someone photocopied every book in the public library, burned the library down, and then opened a subscription service for the copies.
That's the metered intelligence business model.
And they're pitching it to infrastructure investors as though they invented water.

When we say “tax the super‑rich”, people sometimes think we mean them. But unless you're very lucky— we really don't.
The Wealth Tax we're advocating would be on assets over £10 Million. Who has that kind of money? Just 0.4% of the country.
