Candy prices were so high this year that a lot of people said they just couldn’t afford to put anything out.
Trick-or-treating used to run on a simple honor system: take a handful, say thanks, keep walking.
Now check this out people emptying entire pots like they’re restocking their own pantry. That’s why more houses are just going dark. The candy isn’t the real loss. It’s the assumption that neighbors will keep playing along once the trust is gone.

Kids and adults were caught on camera walking up to doorsteps on Halloween and looting entire bowls and tubs of candy left out for trick-or-treaters.

In Hawaii, the parents teach their kids to be super respectful during Halloween. They will only take one candy each, even if we tell them to take more. Other parents must teach their kids to take whatever they can. We are not the same.

I’m a moderator on NextDoor for 128 neighborhoods in N Austin TX and surrounding areas. I have 97 reported issues this morning and the majority are the parents of kids who stole candy, damages property, urinated on front porch & chairs - this was my lovely experience) and more.
All parents wanted their kids videos taken down because it violated their rights. My response to the parents : “nope keeping these up may force you to parent your kids so in ten years you aren’t visiting them in prison!”

MSU is off this week and I made the trip out to Lubbuck to watch the Tx Tech / Arizona game today.
Their ceiling appears to be substantially higher with Castellanos; after he settled in he took their ground game to a new level and made mostly good decisions through the air.
Noah Fifita was rattled early but I was totally impressed with him — he was responsible for virtually all Arizona’s offense. Fifita kept them in the game despite their offense being made one dimensional by Tech’s dominant rush defense holding them to 12 rushing yards.
The game day atmosphere is one of the best in the country, even better than my last visit. I can see why recruits want to play in that type of environment in front of that rabid fanbase. Great win for @JoeyMcGuireTTU and their team.
