For 300 years the Ottoman Turks were stealing Christian kids from their mothers. This was the most brutal thing humanity ever witnessed. They were waiting for women to birth, raise their kids, and then at the age of 8 were collecting them. The devsirme known as "collection of children" or "blood tax" or in Greek as "paidomazoma", was a systematic practice by the Ottoman Empire from the late 14th century until the mid-17th century, that forced the recruitment of young Christian boys, typically aged 8–18, from Balkan provinces as a form of tribute. The Turkish envoy would appear in the villages and demand that all fathers present themselves before him with their sons. From these, he selected the best-built and strongest to become Janissaries. Initially, the Turks took children aged 6-7 years, and only one child per family. Later, however, recruitment extended to ages 8-10, and gradually the number of children per family increased, until it was possible for all male children to be taken. Christians went so far as to marry off their boys at a young age or convert to the faith voluntarily to avoid the child levy. But even this was not always helpful, since the Turks paid little attention to such details. The child levy was perhaps the greatest wound for Christians during Turkish rule. These boys were taken from their families, converted to Islam, and rigorously trained to serve in the empire's military, administrative, and bureaucratic roles. This created a loyal class of elite soldiers and officials who were dependent on the sultan rather than on hereditary Turkish aristocracy. They were separated according to ability and could rise in rank based on merit. The most promising boys known as "inner boys", received elite education in Constantinople's Enderun School, covering warfare, administration, sciences, and Islamic theology. Many became Janissaries, the empire's elite infantry corps, or rose to high positions like grand viziers, provincial governors, admirals, or financial bureaucrats. We estimate the total number of Christian boys taken across the entire Ottoman Empire (primarily Eastern Europe aka Balkans) around 300.000 kids. From those kids at least 180.000 were Greek kids (over 300 years 1362-1648). It means more than the half of the total kids that were stolen were only Greek. For example in 1540, a levy in the regions of Thessaly & Macedonia took 1.000 Greek boys in one season and in Chios (Greek island) 200 boys taken in 1567 alone. The peak was 5.000 kids/annual from Greece. A generational trauma, with thousands of Greek families losing sons every few years for centuries. The system began under Sultan Murad I (1362–1389) and largely ended by 1648. Greeks, as a major Christian population in the Ottoman Balkans, were heavily affected by the devsirme. After the fall of Constantinople in 1453, Ottoman control extended over most Greek lands, making Greek Orthodox families prime targets for recruitment. On 28 February 1395, Archbishop Isidore Glabas of Thessaloniki denounced it in a speech as "paidomazoma" (child-gathering), describing the anguish of parents: "mothers scratching their cheeks in grief and fathers beating their breasts and the violent Islamization of children and their hard training in the use of dogs and falcons." A 1550 Greek poem by Ioannes Axayiolis, appealed to Charles V of Germany to liberate the Christians from the Turks (for liberation from this "sorrow"). The text is found in the Codex Vaticanus Graecus of 1624. In another account, the Roman Catholic bishop of Chios in 1646 writes to the director of the Catholic Greek Gymnasion of Rome asking the latter to accept Pavlos Omeros (lol my name literaly Pavlos Homeros too), a 12-year-old boy from Chios, to save him from the devshirme. Once taken, boys were circumcised, renamed with Muslim names, and forbidden from contact with their families. They were raised as Muslims, effectively erasing their Greek cultural and religious identity to foster loyalty to the sultan. Historical records show Greek-origin devşirme boys rising to prominence, such as Mimar Sinan (chief architect of the Ottomans, possibly Greek) and several grand viziers like Ibrahim Edhem Pasha (from Chios). The devshirme was the greatest wound inflicted on Hellenism during the period of Turkish tyranny. The children who were seized were considered definitively lost. In Epirus, in fact, on the first Sunday after the abduction, their parents would go to church dressed in black, where a funeral service was chanted. In this service, the names of the children were read aloud as if they were dead. Now, I think you understand who the real ancestors of the Muslim Turks are and why they are afraid of DNA tests. Keep in mind that whole villages and cities in Anatolia were wholly Islamized, and they became Ottomans and Muslim Turks (from Christian Greeks, Armenians, etc.) in "one night." This is one of the many reasons Turkey is a paper nation, a sandcastle, a pseudo-nation without historical and genetic continuity. I write about the ancient, medieval, and modern history of Greece and what Christians went through because of Islam. Always with primary sources and historical facts. It’s absolutely insane that Hamas posts videos of themselves operating and shooting from residential buildings (including child soldiers) and then when those exact positions are bombed by Israeli forces its called a “genocide” and “indiscriminate fire”

George Orwell on British anti-Semitism: "above a certain intellectual level people are ashamed of being antisemitic and are careful to draw a distinction between ‘antisemitism’ and ‘disliking Jews’."
The revealing admission in @mehdirhasan’s post - which he completely misses, accidentally or not - is that rising anti-Israel hatred fuels rising attacks on Jewish school kids, because they are Jewish.

If you hate Zionism, believe Israel is the new Nazi Germany, or think Zionists secretly control the world, you need to understand where some of these ideas came from. Let me take you back to Moscow, 1983. On March 29, 1983, the Soviet Communist Party approved a KGB proposal to establish the Soviet Anti-Zionist Committee. Just one year earlier, Mahmoud Abbas, today’s Palestinian Authority President, had defended his doctoral thesis in Moscow, promoting Holocaust distortion and conspiracy theories about Zionist collaboration with the Nazis. Both emerged from the same Soviet environment of anti-Zionist propaganda. The committee’s mission was simple: demonize Zionism, discredit Israel, and spread the Kremlin’s narrative worldwide. But the KGB had a clever strategy. They deliberately placed Jews at the head of the organization to deflect accusations of antisemitism. Led by Soviet Jewish General David Dragunsky and supervised by the KGB and Communist Party’s Propaganda Department, the committee became a propaganda machine. Here is how it worked: 1. Compare Zionists to Nazis. Pravda accused Israel of using Nazi methods and operating concentration camps. 2. Manufacture Jewish opposition to Israel. Soviet media promoted supposed letters from Jewish emigrants claiming they had been deceived by Zionist propaganda. 3. Stage international press conferences. Committee leaders accused Israel of adopting Nazi practices, while TASS and Novosti amplified their accusations worldwide. 4. Export propaganda worldwide. The Soviet Union used international media, publications, foreign language broadcasts, and propaganda networks to spread its anti-Zionist narratives across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond, turning a Kremlin campaign into a global messaging operation. 5. Give propaganda academic credibility. In 1985, the committee published a 300-page White Book portraying Zionism as a global conspiracy and Israel as an instrument of American imperialism. Meanwhile, the same Soviet regime restricted Jewish emigration and persecuted Jews who wanted to leave for Israel. Think about that. More than 40 years ago, the KGB was systematically manufacturing the accusations we hear against Israel today. Zionism equals Nazism. Israel is an apartheid regime. Zionists manipulate governments. Even Jews supposedly reject Zionism. Today, these narratives circulate across university campuses, demonstrations, social media, and mainstream political debates. Perhaps one of the greatest successes of Soviet propaganda is that millions of people today believe they arrived at these ideas entirely on their own. Before repeating the next accusation about Zionism, ask yourself one question: Who taught the world to think this way?

On this day—October 25, 1929 The Shaw Commission arrived in Jerusalem to investigate Arab massacres of Jews across Mandate Palestine. This was two decades before Israel’s independence. Arabs had killed 133 Jews brutally with axes, knives, and clubs in places like Jerusalem, Hebron, and Safed. Homes were looted, synagogues were destroyed, and survivors were raped and mutilated. The massacres were ongoing. There were another 57 Arab attacks against Jews as the Commission sat. The Grand Mufti later invoked the Protocols of the Elders of Zion and compared himself to Jesus, claiming Jews had denounced him. The Commission found the Arab attacks on Jews were driven by hostility to Jews in general and the notion of Jewish sovereignty anywhere in the Land. This was the conclusion before there were any “settlements,” “occupation,” or even a State of Israel.

Silent footage from @AP in 1956 just after Israeli forces drove Egypt out. Captions says: "Refugee camps near GAZA, where the Egyptian kept the Palestinian refugees in primitive dwellings, not permitting them to go to Egypt or mingle with their countryfolk. Fed and clothed thanks to the International Organization for the refugees, the Egyptians used these people as political hostages. While Cairo affirmed that Gaza territory sheltered 300.000 Arab refugees, right after occupation they were numbered at 200.000. In front of their huts decorated with white flags, they warmly receive the Israeli soldiers, saying that the Egyptians were very haughty towards and did not treat them well."

Clearly, you didn’t read the report. Regarding that survey: 827 students (mostly non-Jewish) said they'd witnessed antisemitism. Nor do the report's recommendations rest on that survey. They rest on CST's 204 incidents targeting schools in 2025, two JPR studies, Teacher Tapp's survey of ~10,000 teachers, the NEU and NASUWT surveys, 587 call-for-evidence responses, and 84 written submissions. Take the student survey away and the evidence base doesn't change. Reading is hard, I guess.

Islamophobes are accusing Abdul El-Sayed of being pro–Muslim Brotherhood JUST BECAUSE: • His mother worked for an organization later designated by the U.S. Treasury for supporting terrorist groups. • His sister-in-law appeared on a federal terrorism watchlist during the Obama administration. • His father-in-law held leadership roles in organizations accused of Brotherhood connections. • Those organizations were named unindicted co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation case. • His half-sister celebrated October 7 online. • The same half-sister wrote that their family had “long been MB” and described their mother’s Brotherhood activism. • His campaign buddy Hasan Piker said America deserved 9/11. • He wanted to avoid commenting on Khamenei’s death because some potential voters were grieving. • He signed a statement urging Morsi’s government to purge Egypt’s media and police. • He compared Oklahoma’s Sharia-ban measure to historical atrocities, including the Trail of Tears. • He praised the work of Tariq Ramadan, grandson of the Muslim Brotherhood’s founder. • He defended his friend Mohamed Soltan, whose father was a senior Brotherhood figure. • His campaign received donations from CAIR-associated individuals, and his father-in-law contributed $300,000 to a supporting PAC. • He argued that a Brotherhood-led Egypt would not necessarily resemble Iran. You’re confusing what happened with what you’re allowed to notice
