Despite a decade of it being pushed in schools more and more, young people are reading for pleasure less and less.

Adaptive teaching for multilingual learners isn't about doing more - it's about noticing more.
If a student is silent, lost or stuck, don’t assume they don’t understand ➡️respond with scaffolds: visuals, gestures, L1 use, sentence starters.

An interesting study on vocabulary learning for EFL learners found that tasks like composition writing and sentence rewording led to greater vocabulary gains, supporting the depth of processing theory.

Implement sorting exercises for EAL students to enhance comprehension. For example, provide a list of quotes to categorise in a table based on Macbeth’s characteristics: Ambitious, Superstitious, Gullible. Include translations of the quotes and keywords for beginners.
