It’s not a question of "getting even." It’s not even a question. It’s a duty. It’s the power and duty of Congress to provide oversight. To ensure that the executive branch is being in accordance with the Constitution and the laws that Congress has enacted on the people’s behalf. And to ensure that tax dollars are being spent in the interests of the people, and not the public servants who control the accounts. This power and duty was exercised by Congress from the earliest moments of the Washington Administration. It has been forsaken by corrupt and craven Congresses of recent years. It is the new Congress's solemn obligation to resume performance of its duty to oversee the executive branch, and any leader who can’t commit to that obligation should stand aside.
Hakeem Jeffries on Morning Joe: The American people don't want us to get even. They want us to get things done on their behalf because life is way too expensive. We ran on affordability, we won on affordability, and now it's our job to govern on affordability.

This grows out of language-theoretic security, not cryptocurrency. But smart contracts are a particularly interesting application: adversarial environments, real money, and very little tolerance for mistakes in accounting, privileges, or protocol behavior.

Building your own personal software is cheaper in one really important way, which is that the feature set to maintain is much, much smaller than the commercial equivalent. I just rebuilt Superhuman for myself and it doesn't have nearly close to all the features Superhuman does. But it doesn't need to because I never used them.

No wake-up call can be loud enough for these two: Schumer: "We'll see if [Trump] will actually change his ways and join.” Jeffries: “The American people don’t want us to get even.”

Big Tech, Big Medicine, Big Corporations. If you're a monopoly, the people are coming for you. Last night emphasized that. @AbdulElSayed hit on the need to take on monopolies and oligopolies in a pre-election interview with 60 Minutes ⬇️

with this election result I get that people are wary of the woke resurgence. lemme offer a particular perspective from someone who has played on both sides of the woke/antiwoke tennis match I was hardcore woke for some years, vocal male feminist, pro-palestine activist, co-op founder, NGO consultant, the whole nine yards then I realised that my wokeness was just re-enacting the religious fundamentalism of my upbringing, the same conformist behaviours dressed up with new language (and missing crucial virtues like forgiveness & grace) I left the church of social justice around 2018, before woke peaked now I have my own anti-woke allergies & defensiveness. can’t fucking stand it when strangers try to hold me to account for not following some new rules they invented last week. can’t fucking stand the thoughtpolice making us all dumber by the minute. these days pluralism is my most important political value recently I noticed something, when I have my reservations and fears about some people from the left: sometimes I have to work with an outspoken feminist, or an anti-racism trainer, or a noted labor rights spokesperson or whatever, and I get wary, like are these people going to try to badger me into submission? are they going to make me play the privilege olympics before I get the right to speak?? and in the past year or two, everytime I have been wary about working with one of these people, I notice I am pleasantly surprised. in my corner of the world at least, it’s like the most rabid undignified socially brutal activists have been humbled. they’ve learned to turn down the intensity. subconsciously at least, they can feel that their ideology has great gaping cracks in it. so their more circumspect about how they share their perspective I guess I want to suggest that the culture war is over. it’s just not evenly distributed yet

CVS's announcement is both a clear sign that bipartisan efforts to break up health care conglomerates—championed by @econliberties's Break Up Big Medicine coalition—are gaining traction and a naked attempt to circumvent those efforts.
FT Exclusive: CVS Health is plotting a break-up of its $117bn healthcare empire, separating its retail pharmacy chain from its insurance business in what would be one of the largest corporate splits of all time. ft.trib.al/ZlfmGt9

I presume, or at least I hope, that we are mocking domicile based on tax rates. To say that it makes me physically ill is gross understatement. Well, maybe not. What it makes me is very, very sad. It also makes me wonder about their upbringing.

AI transformation has to come top-down from the CEO. But CEOs can't buy what they don't understand. Mark Cuban says this is the biggest barrier to AI adoption. "The first step to that is trying to educate the C-suite on how AI even works." "Until you have a C-suite that understands how it works, it's going to be very difficult for that organization." Executive level marketing and education will unlock the next trillion in revenue for the AI industry.

JD Vance woke up and chose the hot dog suit
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up. So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us." Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026. There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true. But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone. Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were: 1) End the war 2) Focus on cost of living/inflation 3) Put America First 4) Change our relationship to Israel Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.) In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you. The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there. I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.
