Dear physician,
Did you know that at least 25% of us struggle with imposter syndrome?
It is not surprising that we have higher rates of imposter syndrome than the general population.
As perfectionists, we have a broad definition of failure but a narrow definition of success.
Our achievements never feel enough.

Great talk by Dr. @BlaneyMD at #ACG2026 on Medical Homes and Alcohol-Associated Liver Disease (ALD)!
Key takeaways:
• ALD and AUD often coexist
• Screen for AUD using AUDIT-C
• Treat AUD alongside liver disease
• Abstinence improves prognosis

Excited to share our analysis of a large international SLD database confirming suboptimal performance of FIB4/other biomarkers for detecting fibrosis in women, especially those < age of 35. With SLD increasing, we need better NITS!

Join me at #ACG2026!
📅 SUnday, Oct 11 at the 8 am session
I will be discussing Medical Homes for ALD for the @AmCollegeGastro Post-Graduate Course!
See you there!
Every gastroenterologist and hepatologist needs to get comfortable with screening, diagnosing, and prescribing AUD pharmacotherapy.
📢You cannot treat ALD without treating the underlying cause, which is alcohol use!

Hepatology’s simplest equation:
1. 🍺 Alcohol-associated liver disease is the main killer.
2. 📈 Abstinence improves survival.
Yet addiction training is missing from the curriculum.
Addiction medicine must be core training. Lives depend on it.

In our @AGA_CGH study of 2,870 people screened for MASH trials, 11% had PEth ≥20 ng/mL—warranting evaluation for possible MetALD or ALD. Better alcohol assessment could improve trial selection and interpretation.

As this has generated a lot of "discussion," I will say this:
Many of the best physicians in American (leaders in patient care, research, MedEd, & organized medicine) are IMG.
When did we stop wanting the world's best + brightest to serve our population & make us healthier?
I've been busy putting together presentations for ALD and the majority of studies that I am citing are from @HepCommJournal
@ebtapper has done a wonderful job shaping this field by attracting and publishing these important studies 👏🙏
