After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.
I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.
It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC.
May God bless America.

Its a pleasure to have Deputy Minister @NsinghNarend speak about the extensive adaptation planning already done, and the challenge of raising climate finance for implementation of these plans. We need new predictable, fit-for-purpose finance, capable of leveraging up private finance at scale. The recently promulgated Climate Change Act creates legal basis for setting up a Climate Change Response Fund.

The Climate Change Act sets up a mitigation management system. This includes a national greenhouse gas emissions trajectory for South Africa, reviewed every 5 years. 10/
Blessing Manale retweeted
In terms of the trajectory, emissions targets can be set for sectors and sub-sectors of economy, and the Ministers responsible for regulating those sectors need to give effect to them through policies and measures. 11/
Blessing Manale retweeted
The DFFE Minister can publish a list of greenhouse gases and activities associated with those gases. If you engage in a listed activity, a carbon budget can be set and you need to develop a greenhouse gas mitigation plan. 12/

In all, the Climate Change Bill sets up a comprehensive regulatory system for managing the effects of climate change and mitigation activities within the economy. The Act will need to be coordinated with other key instruments such as #CarbonTax and #IRP for full effect. 13/

@ClimateZA will work with the Minister of DFFE to give effect to the provisions which relate to us, and advise on implementation of the Act’s provisions. 14/

South Africa’s international partners are important players. In line with international development & climate finance agreements, their support can be catalytic. The JETP has established a country-led model for doing so. 18/

@ClimateZA recommends that @TreasuryRSA undertake a fiscal review of the just transition, and evaluate the extent to which industrial, social and labour market policy interventions are aligned with the pace of decarbonisation and adaptation investments. 17/
Blessing Manale retweeted
@TreasuryRSA has an extremely important role to play in all of this. They will assess the potential for public finance to de-risk just transition projects, and the extent to which incentives or other mechanisms might be needed. 16/
