George, an 83-year-old man, was heading to bed when his wife pointed out that the light in the garage was still on. From the bedroom window, she noticed movement inside. Curious, George opened the back door to check, only to spot people rummaging through his garage, clearly up to no good. He quickly called the police and explained the situation. The officer on the line asked, “Is your garage attached to your house?” George replied, “No, it’s detached.” The officer then said, “All units are currently busy. Please stay inside, lock your doors, and we’ll send someone as soon as possible.” George hung up, paused for a moment, and then picked up the phone again. This time, he told the dispatcher, “I just called about the people in my garage. You don’t need to hurry anymore—I’ve taken care of it. I’ve shot them all.” Then he hung up. Within minutes, George’s quiet neighborhood turned into a scene out of an action movie. Six police cars, a SWAT team, a helicopter, and an ambulance all arrived in record time. The officers swarmed the property and quickly apprehended the burglars, catching them red-handed in the act. One of the officers approached George, clearly puzzled. “I thought you said you’d shot them?” With a sly smile, George replied, “And I thought you said no one was available!”

Simple request to whoever is now running Labour’s communications strategy, drop the “strivers” language as it inevitably has led in the past to reference to “skivers” prefacing attacks on welfare benefit claimants & cuts in social security support.
At 6 with Victoria - the Chancellor says her Budget will be for the 'strivers'

Question - We wonder if the Telegraph sponsors listed, via an AI online search have company equality policy’s that align with such public punching down of disabled people via its media? The list of sponsors are well known in the UK Do sponsors support this hostile environment?

Labour whips warn party’s MPs not to amend bills or disagree in public. Ridiculous. People ought to hear from their representatives. Some people think parliament defends free speech - Whips say don't speak or think, and vote as party bosses want you to. theguardian.com/politics/202…

No pun intended but I am so sick of this constant use of a deficit narrative for disabled people. Where is the discussion of the positive contributions that disabled people make to society, our talents…?

Anyone who is against the ability to work from home can officially shove it. Just finished a morning of work while in so much pain I can't leave my bed. Tonight I'm preparing another disabled person to carry out work at a location for me, creating a well paid job too. – at Camden Town, London

I have a meeting with my support workers as my ‘support’ from Access To Work has been cut by around £500 per week and will affect their employment. Not just mine, theirs too. This is awful. @UKLabour @N_landCouncil @scope @guardian @itvtynetees @hexhamcourant @Tanni_GT
Absolutely no words. @DWPgovuk have cut my support dramatically (both hours and pay). I now cannot do my job. Please help me stay in work. Even if it's just sharing to make a noise. gofund.me/5e5b7b0c *Having to take a lil time off for mh, be back soon*

All this palaver about getting disabled people into work while the DWP doesn’t do the bare minimum of their own job.
I started my job 4 months ago and still haven't had an Access to Work assessment to discuss what assistive hardware and software I need. I'm lucky that my employer let me put my personal copy of the screen reader on the work laptop, but plenty of disabled people can't do that.

Replying to @Lucy_Webster_
Exactly this, no mention of disabled people in core Labour Policy, zero updates on disability benefits but winter fuel cuts and assisted dying laws ✅ Destroying the MH of so many disabled People, anxiety, fear. It’s torturous cruelty by Labour

I accept that the current system prolongs suffering and change is needed. But enacting this bill when disabled people are unable to get basic care, are maligned as burdens, and experience horrendous medical ableism would just say you'd like fewer of us around
