It's been bird week all week, so we all are appreciating birds' special contribution they make to Australia. It's the songs! It's their colours! And the beady eyes of Magpies that love staring as us humans.
You are invited to my next Melbourne book event. Perfect for children 3+ #birdparkbook #storytime

Non-fiction graphic novels are a wonderful way of helping children understand complex information. I've started putting together a list of my favourites to use in class. Feel free to add to the list!

I love that the BBC Bitesize quiz recommended @Richard O Neill’s A Different Kind of Freedom: A Romani Story to me (part of Scholastic’s amazing Voices series)
Bingo - exactly the kind of book I’d want to read.
How well can it suss you out?

I can’t stop thinking, tonight, about this Louise Glück poem, just astounded at how sad it is, and yet still how in love with the world

Once more pushing the boundaries of the graphic novel to breaking point, the great Shaun Tan conjures a gorgeously illustrated story of home and belonging that works as a perfect companion to his mighty The Arrival.

This is the best example I’ve seen of early language learning - pure imitation of sound, gesture and expression. Imitation - how children learn most things.

Such striking work. Well done everyone involved.
Art in primary education is so much more than a subject. It unlocks creativity, deepens thinking, builds confidence & enriches learning across the curriculum.
Above all, it gives children a voice, a means of self-expression & the freedom to see the world differently.
Love this @SmawthorneHMA

This is a despicable failure of a government scheme which was such positive policy for working disabled people not so long ago. The longest I ever waited for my application to be approved was three weeks! Problems need to be addressed urgently. I hope it's not too late.
