“I think buy and hold is a result of an investment strategy, not an investment strategy in and of itself.”
What I told @ReformedBroker and @michaelbatnick on @TheCompound, expanded in our 3Q letter.

If true this is pretty bad $MSGS

Those Madison Square Garden employees got their hopes up at the end of September when the Knicks sent an email to a long list of employees, which gave recipients a first glimpse at their would-be championship rings. Atop the email, a copy of which The Athletic has obtained, was a graphic of two differently styled rings.
“Congratulations, your Employee Championship Ring is here,” the email read.
“(Employee name), this one is on the house. MSG is issuing a complimentary employee championship ring. The same jeweler, the same craftsmanship, personalized with your name. No cost to you.
“There are two designs to choose from: Championship Gold and Garden Classic. Reserve the one you want below.”
But the email was a fake-out, a phishing test Madison Square Garden sent to see if those employees would click, multiple team sources said.
Those who did click the link at the bottom of the message did not get to choose any jewelry; instead, they were forced to attend a mandatory cybersecurity class to help satisfy some of Dolan’s growing cybersecurity concerns, those team sources said.
But Moynihan is no Dimon—and Bank of America is no JPMorgan.
Good article. The contrast on almost every metric with $JPM is pretty astonishing.

Lehman Brothers turned down Leon Black after four rounds of interviews. The reason: “we don’t think you’re smart enough.”
Today Lehman no longer exists. Apollo, the firm Black founded, is worth over $60 billion.
Bestselling author and Founding Partner of @Pucknews @williamcohan tells the story on our latest episode.

Buffett, 1999: “It’s a huge structural advantage not to have a lot of money. I think I could make you 50% a year on $1 million. No, I know I could. I guarantee that.”
He was talking about the part of the market the big institutions can’t own. I spent an episode on how to invest there with @iancassel, founder of MicroCapClub and author of Stock Picker.

Happy Birthday @TimRobbins1
One of the great scenes in movie history:
I mean, seriously, how often do you really look at a man's shoes?...

Will be interviewing @ben_levisohn Editor in Chief of @barronsonline on The World According to Boyar today, any questions you would like asked? Looking forward to this one!
The Knicks were just valued by @Sportico for $12.8 billion (up from ~$9.9 last year). $MSGS which owns the @nyknicks and the @NYRangers is valued at less than $10 billion. So essentially you are able to buy the knicks at a discounted price and the market is throwing in the rangers. Not a bad deal.
Later this month, the Knicks and the Rangers will be split into 2 separately publicly traded companies, it will be interesting to see if the valuation gap narrows.
@NBA_NewYork
Looking forward to interviewing @WilliamCohan today about his new book Money to Burn. Will also find out about the latest regarding @PuckNews
Any questions you want asked?
Stay tuned...
Don’t forget @fatjoe !
ICYMI: The Knicks will soon stand alone as an independent, publicly-traded entity.
Controversial former team president and head coach Isiah Thomas will be appointed to the board.
One MSG Sports investor tells @FOS they'd rather have @BenStiller.

Great work Ben!
@NBA_NewYork
“I’d rather have Ben Stiller. Or Fat Joe.”
That's what one MSG Sports investor (@BoyarValue) had to say about Isiah Thomas joining the board of directors for the new entity that will own the Knicks.

Fun joining @Greenbackd and @farnamjake1 on Value After Hours. We covered AI-fear selloffs in $BKNG and $ABNB, the Knicks + Rangers ($MSGS) trading for less than the Lakers sold for, $POOL at 15x (vs. 55x at peak), and whether $MKL is the next Berkshire (no).
