Going #carfree is challenging, albeit rewarding, especially in a smaller city like #Pittsburgh. This does a great job of covering the challenges & considerations when making this jump. How to go car-free — or car-light — in Middle America vox.com/future-perfect/23578… via @voxdotcom

With all the excitement with PRT's Bus Line Refresh, we missed Mid Mon Valley Transit's proposed new system at midmonmoves.com! They seem to be using the same Remix software that PRT is using as well. I do have concerns with their proposals, primarily the frequencies – at Pittsburgh, PA

I almost love this, but how could they leave off the amazing ACS-64s that rule the Northeast Corridor?! – at McKees Rocks, PA
Rail ones will understand. This week only, purchase our limited edition Amtrak All-Star Trak Tee. Preorder ends on Halloween, so be sure to cop before trick or treating. 🎃

I didn't realize Youngstown and Akron had Amtrak service until so recently. I figured they would be difficult to serve again, though it does appear that this train didn't stop at Cleveland which is quite unfortunate – at Pittsburgh, PA
One of the most recent Amtrak lines to be defunded and shut down, the Three Rivers used to carry people from NYC to Chicago via Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Akron until 2005. Nappanee, Fostoria, Akron and Youngstown no longer have train service.

I definitely need to get a bike out yo the East and check out these Bucks County trails! – at Pittsburgh, PA
Enjoy Bucks County trails and parks! Trails are transportation options, too! Walking & biking trails can improve mobility, reduce traffic congestion, and provide more choices for getting around! youtu.be/Jmnh_mx9fkw?si=rXTy… @511PAPhilly | @BucksCountyPark

When will Ross Township start to take pedestrian safety seriously? This is not the first time this has happened... Clearly the barriers aren't helping! "Man, 29, in critical condition after being hit by vehicle on McKnight Road in Ross" triblive.com/local/north-hil… – at Reserve Township, PA

How's this for happenstance, on a whim I was looking around the other day for pictures of Amtrak at Philly International, and thanks to recording of a presentation at the West Jersey Chapter of the NRHS, there I go...

I'm well overdue for a trip back to Buffalo. Preferably when it's warmer, unlike when I went in February last time 😅 – at Millvale, PA
Just a refresher that this account does not engage in any measure of rankings, cage matches, bashing, etc between cities, often geared for engagement farming. All cities can be improved and many have such a long way to go. And preferences are fine & real. But no places are bad.🌇

I wish it was easier and cheaper to get out there via transit. Fullington Trailways is direct from PGH, but a ticket there costs $118 each way!

Finally in a Bus Lane on Fifth Ave in Pittsburgh. I'm flabbergasted that there wasn't a Downtown-bound one for all this time! – at Pittsburgh, PA

Hi @PghTransitCare - is the 64 only on a temporary detour via Aiken and Ellsworth, or is this the new permanent routing for this line?

The comments to this post remind me of just how far some of my colleagues commute to work, with some driving an hour+ to the office.
BREAKING: Allegheny County passes a 12-week parental leave for employers with 15 or more workers. PA does not have any statewide parental leave rules and Allegheny County will become the first county in the state to have one. axios.com/local/pittsburgh/2…

Lol this is my love for the Blvd Direct, especially when they added that stop at Southampton! When it didn't stop at Southampton I was less than thrilled. – at Millvale, PA
me when the bus stops every block: “this is inefficient and a waste of time. i hate the bus.” me when the bus stops right outside of where i’m going: “wow this is so convenient i love the bus!”

Nothing disgusts me more on the roadway than when motorists blatantly ignore school bus lights and stop signs. #nationalschoolbussafetyweek – at Reserve Township, PA
Here’s a little refresher for National School Bus Safety Week: 🟡 Yellow means slow 🛑 Red means stop Let’s protect kids getting on and off the school bus! Always stop when the stop-arm is out! @511PAPhilly | @NHTSAgov
