On this day in 2003, The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter at Walt Disney World closed forever.
Guests visited a futuristic corporation to witness a teleportation demonstration, but things went horribly wrong when a dangerous alien was accidentally transported into the theater. Trapped in their seats in near-total darkness, guests experienced surround sound, air blasts, and physical effects that made it feel like the creature was hunting them. It became infamous for being unusually terrifying for a Disney park attraction and was eventually replaced by Stitch’s Great Escape! in 2004.

Everything they taught you about July 4th, 1776 is a lie.
The Redcoats weren't soldiers. They were something else.

Why is it ‘cancelled’ in the U.K. but ‘canceled’ in the U.S.?
Because we gave them that L in 1776.

Concept art for the Country Bear Jamboree.
While all of the bears look very similar to what was actually produced I would take a look at one of the names of the bears and how it differs to what we have today!

May 11, 1781 – General Thomas Sumter captured Orangeburg,
South Carolina, a supply post on the route to Charleston, from
the British forces. Supported by a 6-pound cannon from General Nathanael Greene, Sumter's forces, led by 120 mounted men, forced the surrender of 84 British regulars and Loyalists.

One of the earliest and most heartbreaking depictions of the relationship between man and dog is in the Odyssey:
- Argos is the only one who recognizes Odysseus immediately, even in disguise.
- He is too weak to stand, but he wags his tail and drops his ears when he sees him.
- Odysseus can't reveal himself or openly acknowledge him
- Instead, he asks the swineherd about the dog, indirectly praising him.
- He sheds a tear, and turns his face so no one notices.
- After seeing his master one last time, Argos dies.
Nearly three millennia, and this simple human moment is something everyone can relate to.

Just watched The American Adventure from the front and this is easily one of the best attractions at Epcot and has better animatronics than many Disney attractions overall.

Today is the 245th Anniversary of the Battle of Cowpens.
Relying upon strategic creativity, Brigadier General Daniel Morgan and a mixed Patriot force rout British Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton and a group of Redcoats and Loyalists at the Battle of Cowpens on January 17, 1781. It would become a turning point on the American Revolution's southern front.

Too bad WDW leadership is too focused on measurable revenue and not the intangibles that make them great.

Is the American Adventure Disney’s most underrated attraction? It was a marquee attraction in EPCOT’s early days. Guests often got so emotional that they cried while watching it. Today, it seems to be all but forgotten, lost in a vast sea of festivals.
