Fathers of daughters: You are the first man she loves. You will set the bar for what she expects from a man. You will define what masculine strength is about (provision and protection), and you are teaching her what God’s unconditional love feels like. You are actively resolving a thousand problems she never has to have because she had a good dad. You are important, and I am cheering you on.

"I'd never give up on a kid in high school. There was a kid I kicked off the team his Jr year that ended up moving in w/ me. Brought him back & never let him play the rest of season. Brought him back because I was afraid of where he'd end w/o 🏀."

The most underrated tool of persuasion is curiosity.
A natural response to disagreement is to attack what people think. A more inviting alternative is to be genuinely fascinated by how they think.
Curiosity is contagious. When advocacy closes minds, inquiry can open them.

One of the hardest things as a young leader is to accept rebuke for a lack of character when everyone is celebrating your gifts.
People who point out character flaws are often the ones who care about you the most, even if it’s painful to hear.

Absolutley struck to the heart today reading the list of the Apostles Jesus chose. We know almost nothing about most of them. Its possible to be chosen by Jesus, build redemtpive history, and be unknown to the world. Recognition in heaven breaks the need for recognition on earth.

This verse has been such a simple but clear reference point trying to pastor & lead through the pandemic.
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Rom12 : 12
Hope, patience, faithfulness.
Thats enough for today.
Thats enough for a hard season of ministry.

Instead of dismissing “all of Evangelicalism” I often ask myself, would the Church be better if everyone followed Jesus like I do?
This leads me to humility and repentance & getting the log out of my own eye.
Let your godly; humbly, passionate life be it’s own critique.

Modern secular society is not driven by logic, so pointing out logical inconsistencies doesn’t persuade people.
Pointing to Jesus himself as more compelling and beautiful is the way forward.

If all we do is point out the obvious flaws of the church; don’t be surprised when no one wants to be a part of it.
If all we do is ignore the obvious flaws of the church, don’t be surprised if no one wants to be a part of it.
Need to elevate Jesus in both cases.
