When I stood in the courtyard of Government House today and watched David Eby deliver his lines announcing an election, I couldn’t help but think: there wasn’t much confidence behind it.
It was all excuses (and not very good ones.) However, Eby was right about one thing: the province is on fire. Just not in the way he meant it
After a decade of NDP government, so much of what made British Columbia a great place to live has been burned away and reduced to rubble.
In the time I’ve worked in the legislature, I have known Lorne Doerkson to be a fair, wise and accessible MLA who is above all proud of being a British Columbian. That reputation has followed him and for good reason.
Leadership tends to accentuate the qualities people already have and because of these qualities I know he will be a fine leader for the BC Conservatives.
This election matters. A lot. The choice voters will make over the next month will affect British Columbians for generations.
All three of my children were born here. This is their home. And I worry about what kind of province they will inherit if we continue down the same path . This province risks being torn apart and decimated by economic ruin, lawlessness and the erosion of something as basic as the right to own property
I have always, above all, valued being loyal and being true to my principles and after watching what has happened, and knowing the people involved, I can say this pretty plainly: I believe Lorne Doerkson is the right leader for the moment and I believe the BC Conservatives are the party capable of sending the NDP and its selfish leader packing.
That is why they have my full support.

How could it be when Parliament is sidelined for eight months, allowing the executive branch to reign unchecked?
Or when foreign interference is ignored and elections are gamed?
Or when courts rule that the government broke the law and nothing changes?
Or when the state controls your speech, your property, your energy, your news, your guns, your healthcare—and offers you assisted suicide when the wait times get too long?
Canada has become something else: a managed oligarchy with democratic trappings, where the individual exists to serve the state.
