Happy pi approximation day!
Today's date, 22 July, can also be written as the fraction 22/7, which is equal to 3.14285714, an approximation of π, correct to two decimal places.

Very cool work. Reminds me of a paper from @ProfTomEllis lab that I believe was the first to use a fluorescent aptamer + protein (doi.org/10.1021/sb400089c) and inspired some of my own work with @BurkeLabRNA doi.org/10.1021/acssynbio.7b….

On DNA Day I want to recognize Gobind Khorana, who painstakingly constructed the first synthetic gene: E. coli tyrosine tRNA. Took only 7 years, and arguably also invented PCR along the way.

Look what we found in Ohio. Present in at least 20 sewershed samples over the last 6 months.
B.1.1 derivative (person infected for over 2 years).
About 94 genome changes (71 non-synonymous). Highly accumulated in Spike.
Many familiar cryptic mutations.

A fantastic journey that started in June 2014 when I was a passionate PhD student, then a small break to return in April 2016, right after my PhD defense, to start my postdoc. Since then, I became a @Mizzou Faculty and I built a family with @AzCecchini. Lots of adventures!
