Chief Constable Chris Noble @StaffsPoliceCC appointed Chair of the Trustees for @UK_COPS. In a statement on @LinkedIn, CC Noble outlined, “Care of Police Survivors (COPS) is the only UK charity dedicated to solely supporting the families of police officers and staff who have died on duty. It is a well-loved charity based in our force area, with many colleagues locally, nationally and internationally, completing activities to raise funds for their important work. In my early years of policing in Northern Ireland I have seen the impact that losing a loved one has on families and the enduring sense of loss and isolation this can create. When we lose a colleague, it is only right that those most directly affected get the support they need in rebuilding their shattered lives and that we tangibly demonstrate that they remain part of the police family. My focus is on helping COPS achieve its vision of providing full support to the families and partners of those colleagues who lose their lives on duty. I will also be encouraging colleagues across policing to see the value of this great charity and inspire and support fundraising in the future to secure the charity’s ongoing work. Since its foundation in 2003, COPS has helped hundreds of families from across the UK rebuild their lives. Their aim is to ensure that the families of these officers and staff have the support they need, to help navigate their bereavement and the tragedy of losing a loved one.
